okay this is a weird one. i’m not even sure what reddit group to go to with this one. i was just offered a GM position at a pizza shop. i would have to roll/ make dough when other employees are unable to. i have acrylic nails (they are very short) and they just let me know today i’d probably make holes in the pizza dough with my nails, even if i was wearing gloves. is there anything i can do to prevent this? it may sound stupid to some for me to not just cut them off, but i’ve consistently kept my nails done for years now, and it’s one of the only things i treat myself to for self care. obviously, when it comes down to it, i would cut them if i had to, but i’m just wondering if anyone else has a solution. i wouldn’t be doing hands on work very much, so it just upsets me to have to cut them since i really won’t be on the line much at all. thanks guys!

my boyfriends grandfather just passed away. i feel awful, but i don’t know if i can swing traveling for his funeral. i wonder if this makes me a bad person. my boyfriend and i live about six states away from where he lived, meaning i’ll have to buy a plane ticket to the nearest city and then also rent a car to take to their town. i just lost all my savings due to us moving into a house that needed renovations, and then, to top everything off— our cat started dying, leaving me with a very expensive emergency vet bill. my boyfriend and i work the same job, so he can’t cover my travel expenses considering we’re in the exact same financial situation. not only can i not afford the travel expenses, i also just don’t think i can manage not working for almost a week and missing that paycheck. would i be a horrible person if i told him i couldn’t make it? i just don’t want him to think i’m blowing off the loss of someone so important, but we were already stressed about finances before this happened. i’m stuck in such a hard place because i want to be there for him, but i just don’t think i can be.

i found a stray cat and had to bring him home. i noticed he had a few fleas, so he’s been confined to my bathroom. i did bathe him with dawn dish soap. my vet couldn’t see him until tomorrow, so he’s had to be in the house for three days with no flea treatment. i am SO paranoid i’ve invited a flea infestation in. i dealt with one years ago at a house i rented, and it was the absolute worst. i’m trying to get ahead of these fleas and nip it in the bud before they get into my carpet and start breeding. what is the best treatment plan? bombs? a flea trap? dawn dish soap in a bowl? he definitely isn’t “infested” with fleas, so i doubt many have even escaped the bathroom because there’s no other animals for them to feed on. thanks for any help!

hey guys! my boyfriend bought me the hercules djcontrol inpulse 200 mk2 for my birthday this year because i’ve always been interested in djing. i have figured out how to work the sound board mostly, and figured out how to do mashups between songs. the only thing i can’t figure out is how i can make beats. that’s the part i’m most interested in. i’m assuming i may need a different software than what i’m using now. can anyone point me in the right direction of some tutorials and software i can download to be able to do this? it doesn’t matter if i have to pay for it! thanks all for any advice! :)

i just moved into a home with my boyfriend. this is the first time i’ve lived “independently” without actual roommates. my entire family knows where i live now. my aunt is a super sweet lady. like, genuinely the kindest person i know. most of the time, she’s bringing me gifts or coming to check on me, but she made a habit of showing up unannounced to my house. i don’t know how to tell her to stop without hurting her feelings. i know if i talk to her about it, she definitely would stop coming, but i also don’t want to make her feel like she’s completely unwelcome in my home. i just wish she’d call first. if it was just me in the house, it would be different, but it’s not fair to my boyfriend to have to deal with that. not to be crass, but my boyfriend and i hook up VERY frequently too. much more than the average person. i would be mortified if any of my family saw/ heard that, and i know he would too. how in the world can i kindly tell people to stop coming to my house without calling?
