Learn the Cangjie input method with Classical Chinese texts

Learn the Cangjie input method with Classical Chinese texts

諸君安好!

I have designed a web application (mobile friendly as well) to learn Cangjie through deliberate practice. It's called Cangjie Workbook. It steps you through the Cangjie code locations, auxiliary forms for Cangjie codes, decomposition rules, then practice with common characters. There is a separate section for practicing with modern and classical texts once you are comfortable with the Cangjie basics.

I have included 千字文 for free along with a few basic lessons. No account is required, but progress will only be stored in your browser. If you make a free account, it will store your progress. I find it to be pretty fun.

I hope some of you find this useful. Any feedback would be great.

How do you create texture and edges like Irasutoya art?

I am interested in creating line edges and texture like illustrations found in Irasutoya using Inkscape. Like ink/marker on construction paper. I thought the texture part would be as simple as using construction paper as a mask, but the result didn't come out well.

Cangjie Workbook, an interactive web app for learning Cangjie, is now available

Last December I shared a product for learning how to type Cangjie in this post https://old.reddit.com/r/ChineseLanguage/comments/1pmix0b/a_tool_for_learning_cangjie_through_practice/ . A special thanks to everyone there that gave me feedback and anyone that took time to try it out. I fixed a lot of bugs, improved the UI a bit and added a way for users to upload their own texts to practice with (in the paid version only).

If you didn't see that post, the main idea is to learn Cangjie the way QWERTY is often taught. You start by learning the position of the different Cangjie codes, then you learn the different subcomponents that they represent, and finally you start learning characters by frequency. There are also some articles to practice on.

The demo has a lot of the bug fixes and will continue to be free at https://demo.cangjieworkbook.com/ .

The paid version is available at https://www.cangjieworkbook.com/ . I tried to keep the price low and mostly just to cover the cost of running it. It is a pretty niche product and I want to keep it going long term. It is $5 USD a month or $50 USD a year.

The next things I am thinking of adding support for are Cangjie 3 (currently it only supports version 5), and adding definitions and pronunciations to characters. Any constructive criticism or bug reports would be greatly appreciated. If there is anything particular in the app you would like to see, let me know.

I've put together Anki decks for the Maryknoll Taiwanese Book 1. They cover the vocabulary and the example sentences under each vocabulary item. I have upload the two main ones to AnkiWeb. One has Hàn-jī on the front, the other has Pe̍h-ōe-jī on the front, depending on what you are interested in learning.

I've organized them in multiple subdecks so you can have better control over what you study. There are more files here if you want the data in other formats: https://github.com/mchaver/taiwanese-anki-decks

I hope these are useful to someone and if you are interested in helping out, reach out to me. I will slowly create similar decks for the second book.
