These AI slop speaker simulators....

"Oh boy, another AI-slop WinISD clone?". "Let's see if you work on it in a few months"

Simulator turns 6 months old today. Tick tock. You know who you are 😉

00 simulator is nearly half a year old. In AI-years, that's dangerously close to being a mature tool. In the audio world, that makes it a dumb tool in it's infancy that stops you scrolling reddit.

Regardless - I* stand humbly before to you today with 8 reasons to care:

*Really - thanks to all the users who have been supporting and providing feedback and suggestions. This has been instrumental to adding features now which - dare I say it - feel actually innovative, rather than just re-packaging.

- ☁️ Cloud accounts, workspaces, favourites etc. Full import/export to WinISD if you don't trust us. Guest mode if you don't even trust us enough to login. No cloud workspace for guests, but don't worry, we have a new Proprietary Format ™️ (.00sim) for you. It's like WinISD, but it supports more than one enclosure at a time. Revolutionary right? Don't trust that either? You can export as WinISD.

- 📊 Still browsing one graph at a time? Yawn. Set-up a full dashboard how you want it - any kind of graph, metric, size, shape. Collapse your sidebars. Pin them. Drag them to a different part of the screen. Mobile support: yup. Tablet support: yup. "Can I run it on my fridge?" Not yet, but we are WORKING ON IT.

- 📈 Headroom simulation. Max SPL graphs don't paint the full picture. Set your target listening level, crest factor, and marvel at how much your one-note bandpass GRS chuffs. Learn how 12dB crest factor incurs a ~16x increase in peak vs avg power. Check out what kind of peak power your amp needs, and a starting point for your limiters.

Headroom Simulation

- 🧮 T/S tweaks: "What would happen if my driver turns up with +3% Re vs manufacturer spec" 🤓☝️Add the T/S tile to your dashboard, enable 'T/S adjust sliders' and fiddle to your heart's content. Visually see the relationships between T/S parameters, such as how Re is related to Q values.

- Fastest driver import in the west. Still trying to scan for T/S values in the spec sheet, then find the input box to type it into manually? In 00 simulator, you'd have simmed another 3 combinations by now. Just paste the whole web page into our tool and it extracts the T/S values automatically. That said - once we've finished up scraping all the data, our driver library will be complete, and you won't even need to do that.

- In-line graphic EQ adjustment: High/low-pass, high/low-shelf, PEQ, linkwitz transform. All adjustable with handles and draggable on top of the SPL graph, so you can see changes in real-time.

- Wiring: More than one driver? We generate all possible series/parallel wiring permutations, and you pick. Ok, maybe this one is a little underwhelming...

- Public profiles: Share enclosures, become an influencer, quit your day job, earn badges -track how many precious days you've lost simulating via the github style activity tracker.

Who should use it?

- You want to do rapid top-of-funnel experimentation across sealed/vented/BP/PR boxes. Not useful for TL/horns, crossovers, or once you're in the measurement phase

- You want to share quick designs/explainers with other users

- If you're mac-only, or don't like firing up the windows VM, or want to design on your phone

- If you find the ui/ux of older tools frustrating

Anyway, if you've made it this far, thanks for listening! Try below? 👉🥺👈

Had a quick 15 mins to punch some numbers into the DSP and have a quick listen to a little mono JMOD/OThorn stack as the JMODs return from a few weeks of tweaking and sub-less tuning. Settled on some some minor deviations from the provided settings but sounding excellent on some class AB mc2 amps.

Can confirm these sound great in a small living room too.

Not delved too much into FIR EQ for these yet - more homework to be done. Any pointers much appreciated!

Very surreal experience listening to these - not heard anything like it before. Super detailed, easy to listen to and the point source effect draws you in in a way that’s hard to explain.

Will be sharing more on instagram - https://instagram.com/00.audio
