My white monster has put out a new leaf that I am unsure about. Is this normal?

None of my friends have an appreciation for crystals. I won these and I am beyond in love.

I got all of these for $60 because the cashier was ready to go home and scanned my Thai three times.

I gave this Monstera to my dad (who is usually a damn plant whisperer so this is mind boggling to me) a few months ago and he sent me this image of it today. Is he giving it to much light? Not enough light? To much water? Not enough water? Anybody have any ideas? This was a gorgeous plant when I gave it to him.

I bought a moss pole and put them on all of my larger monsteras. Everything was fine, I went to work, and came back to jt having snapped my plant clean in half.
