I left this letter on your bed before leaving. I’m sorry I slipped away without goodbye.

To you, I say goodbye. And I love you.

Loving you sometimes felt like holding a knife to my own heart and choosing not to pull away. I knew it could hurt me, and somehow, I wanted it anyway. Because for all the ache that came with loving you, there was something about you that made the wound feel worth carrying.

Maybe that is what confused me most. I could never tell where I stood with you. Some days I felt so close to you, and others I wondered if I had imagined the closeness altogether. The uncertainty clouded my mind until I could no longer tell whether I was protecting something real or simply holding onto something I wanted desperately to be real.
And somewhere in all of that, I began to wonder if I had given my heart away for nothing.

But I don’t think I did.

Even if you could not hold it the way I hoped you would, what I felt was real. What we had mattered to me. You became somewhere my heart recognized as home, even if I was never meant to stay there.
I wish we had met under different circumstances, as different versions of ourselves. Maybe then loving each other wouldn’t have felt so much like reaching for one another through fog.

Still, I don’t regret reaching for you.

Wherever life takes you, I hope it is gentle with you. Maybe somewhere, someday, our paths will cross again and we will meet each other differently. And if they never do, I will still be grateful that for a little while, they crossed at all.

So I leave you with the only thing I know for certain:

I loved you. I love you still.

And now, I have to say goodbye.

Looking for people to make some noise with this season

hey y’all, i’m up here for the season and have been loving it, but i’ve definitely been missing playing music. figured i’d see if there’s anyone around who wants to jam, start something, or maybe even play a few shows before the season’s over.

i play keys, guitar, and bass, and used to play in a couple bands back in socal. been listening to a lot of les rallizes dénudés, ace tone, slint, stereolab, boris, unwound, melt-banana, and other noisy/weird stuff, but i’m down for whatever.

if you need an extra player or just want to make some noise, hit me up :)
