Religion.

I had an interesting experience the last 2 years trying to get sterilized. So in 2025 I scheduled a sterilization surgery with my obgyn and the hospital I had it at was connected with another hospital that is Catholic..the anesthesia lady kept asking me a lot of personal questions and trying to "make sure" I wanted to have that procedure because I was 28 with no birthing history (relatively young no kids) I assured her I was ready, when I woke up from the "surgery" I realized that there were no incisions...I asked what happened, the lady said "oh we had a hard time intubating you and had multiple others try with no success...ummm ok that's odd, so I followed up with my obgyn and asked her what i can do to try to get the surgery to be successful, she suggested mercy health the Catholic hospital but told me they might not do it because they are Catholic and don't believe in sterilization for women BUT THEY WILL ALLOW A MAN TO GET A VASECTOMY....she asked them, they said no. Haha wow! So a yr later im in another state and got sterilization with no complications, no difficulty intubating, he intubated me on the first try. Apparently the first attempt of the procedure the lady said she had 20 yrs experience but her and her whole team couldn't intubate me...good grief!!! I feel like they just didn't want to do it cause of their own biases! But I'm just happy the second time scheduling the procedure in a different state was successful. Religion is huge about making people have a lot of kids against their will. Crazy.

Honestly I'm tired of sugarcoating to people when they ask me why I don't want kids...honestly, I don't want to go through body changes that pregnancy causes or the pain of child birth. That's a huge part of it, also Im a peace loving person and enjoy my solitude, I can co exist with my husband without having to wipe his ass or give him milk every hour of the day. Do any of you outright just tell people you don't want kids for the most "egotistical" reasons without shame anymore? Cause I used to think I had to come up with all these reasonable excuses just to make people satisfied with the fact that I don't want kids lol. What kind of reactions do you get?
