Just realized why the format feels so familiar

Back about 20-25 years ago, I used to rock a palmtop (got a few m100s, then an m515, and even a battery powered one, fun times!

After remembering this, I scrounged up a rom for retroarch. Surprised I still remember how to write in grafitti.

This kinda makes the lack of s-pen even more inexcusable.

Rollmops

I feel trapped in this situation

I'm still in the divorce process, not finalized yet. Late 2024 I found out (through clergy in my church) that my wife had cheated on me. She confessed and authorized the priests to tell me. She said she wanted to tell me herself but was too ashamed to do it.

I was devastated and completely lost when I found out. I didn't go home that night — I ended up sleeping in a small room I'd been renting near home, which I'd set up as a personal "co-working" space. That little tidbit may tell you things weren't going well at home already. I've been working from home since 2020, but it had become really difficult the last few weeks. We have two boys (7 and 4 at the time), and I kept getting interrupted while working to help with the kids, make meals, etc. My wife wasn't working and was often too depressed to do anything else, so she was home but unable (or unwilling) to help with the kids. I thought renting a nearby place would be a way to force her to step up while letting me focus on work. I was pretty worried about them while away, though.

The next day — after a near-sleepless night — I went home and confronted her. She admitted it and half-apologized while blaming me for not giving her enough attention at the same time. We've slept separately from then on. In December she took the kids and travelled 3,000 km away to visit her parents on a trip that was already paid for. She had begged me not to tell her family, so I didn't go either. While she was away, I decided it would be best if I moved out too. We'd been fighting a lot and I didn't want to do it in front of the kids, so I found a place nearby — close enough that I could still take the kids to and from school as needed — and moved out before they were back. At the time I still had some hope things could be worked out, so I didn't file for divorce. I tried to get her into couple's therapy with no success.

She ended up reaching out to public defenders and filing for divorce herself around October 2025. I got a lawyer and made a proposal for more money than strictly required. She still has not accepted or refused. I hope to settle this and finalize the divorce in the next two months. We don't own any real estate, and I sold our old car and gave her a newer (but smaller) one so she could ferry the kids around.

Fast forward to today: I'm still in the same apartment, but fully furnished now, and I get the kids every other week. We tried different arrangements before settling on this one. I still support her (30% of my salary as child support, by court order while the divorce is not final) and pay for the kids' school and health insurance — and any other health-related expenses. She's doing some freelance work related to beauty (nails/eyebrows). But having the kids for a full week while working, often overtime, especially when they're off school, has been taxing. Even with school days, I have to pick them up and bring them back. Adding to that, one of my kids has low-support Autism and has therapy three days a week. A couple months ago my parents came back from voluntary work in Africa because my dad got Cerebral Malaria while there. I went to Johannesburg and flew back with them so my mom wouldnt have to do it alone. He ended up staying almost two months in the hospital, but thankfully is a lot better now. They've moved to another apartment in the same block as me and have been helping some, even while my dad is still somewhat recovering.

But I often feel like my (future) ex is still taking advantage of me, and communication has gotten really bad with her lately — which is saying something. I won't go into my mental state or hope for any future relationships. I don't see it happening, in my heart. And I've postponed any thought of moving to a better place because I don't trust her with the kids. Sometimes I travel for work a couple weeks at a time, and the kids often miss a few days of school while she has them.

Anyway, I just wanted to vent and get some words of encouragement. Even if I know some people here have it worse.

*****

TL/DR: Ex is dragging out the divorce she asked for after cheating on me, have the (10M and 6M) kids for a full week every other week, want to move on but feel trapped because I don´t trust them with her full time, while at the same time wanting to be as far away from her as possible and starting a new life somewhere else.

Disclaimer: used Qwen to review my words, hopefully I still sound like a person.
