Anyone interested in meeting entrepreneurial/tech people in Brussels? 🇧🇪

Hey everyone! I’m a 37-year-old software engineer working for an American enterprise software company, and I’m looking to meet more people in Brussels who are into entrepreneurship, startups, tech, or just building interesting things.

Are there any events, programs, meetups, or regular hangouts where English-speaking people in this space tend to meet?

And if there isn’t really a community for this, feel free to reach out if you’re interested in grabbing a coffee or a drink and chatting about startups, tech, ideas, or projects. 😊

Update:
For those interested, you can join the Brussels Tech WhatsApp group.

Thanks to @Successful-Map-9331 for creating the group!

What’s the most useful life h@ck you’ve learned from living in the Philippines?

If you were to tell your old self something that can help you a lot if you knew it sooner, what will it be? Pwede kahit ano.

170cm, 70.2kg, M37

Working out 2-3x per week since January. (Worked out intermittently the past decade.)

I think I have too much body fat (any guess how much %?). I’m trying to be calorie-conscious and maybe push for a cut (but I’ve also recently rediscovered my love for food 😢).

Also, I think my chest is too underdeveloped. I’m only doing push-ups.

Help a man out. Please share your thoughts and tips.

Residence check in Anderlecht: Are you really expected to stay home all day until the police come?

My partner has a friend (Belgian citizen) who recently moved to Anderlecht and is waiting for the police residence check to complete her registration.

Apparently, the police came by twice or so, but she wasn’t home on either occasion for different reasons. She’s now convinced that she basically has to stay home all day every day because she has no idea when they’ll come back. She’s a single mom with a teenager who is socially anxious, so she says she feels trapped and can’t even leave to buy groceries because she’s afraid of missing them again.

This has upset my partner, but I’m honestly struggling to understand whether this is really how the system works. Surely people who live alone still have to go to work, shop for food, attend appointments, etc. How do others manage this? Is it really expected that you stay home indefinitely until the police happen to visit?

She also feels like the specific policeman for her area is power tripping her. Whether that’s true or not, does she have any recourse if she believes the checks are being handled unfairly? Can she contact the commune or request another visit?

I’d be especially interested in hearing from people who’ve recently gone through the residence check process in Belgium, particularly in Anderlecht.

Hello from this goofy boy

He loves cuddles and being carried. He knows when to go to our bed to ask for some love and treats! He immediately flops on the floor when he sees us pass near him. Ahhh. We’re so lucky we got this baby boy! We love his big sister too. But she’s a princess who loves us but preferably at a distance! 😁

Eyebrow transplant

Hi, any recommendations for a clinic in Istanbul for an eyebrow transplant for men? Given the importance of the angle of the insertion, know it’s important to choose someone who is quite experienced in it.

I had a 1750-graft transplant last year in a non-hair mill hospital in Istanbul but they don’t do eyebrow transplants. Im planning to do a follow-up to lower my hairline and make it even denser, in addition.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Recommendations for screen doors

Hi all, we would like to have a removable screen door to let air in while keeping insects out. We’re also wondering if it’s possible to add a small cat door to it. Any recommendations for companies or people who make screen doors? Thanks in advance.

Brussels, Belgium

My partner and I (both men) live in an enclosed apartment complex in Brussels. We’re fortunate to be surrounded by so much greenery despite living in a city, which is why it’s the focus of our home.

P.S. It just rained hence it’s extra green.
