Software engineer who ships other people’s work but keeps abandoning or hiding my own projects – anyone else?

I’m a software engineer. I have no problem coding and shipping other people’s projects at work, but the second it’s something of my own I fall apart.
I start strong, get halfway (sometimes further), then a shiny new idea hits and my brain starts screaming at me to drop everything and chase it. I try to shut it down and finish the current project, but the distraction just keeps coming. More often than not I give up in the middle.
Sometimes I actually win the fight and finish an MVP or a first working version… and then it just sits on my laptop. Never deployed, never shared, never shown to anyone. Right now I have three finished (or almost finished) projects and a blog, all gathering dust offline. I can’t bring myself to put any of them on the internet.
Anyone else deal with this? How do you actually finish your own stuff and, more importantly, how do you get over the fear/whatever-it-is of putting it out there?
