$17 an hour for an “Extra Comfort” driver

And Lyft took 73%! Only $10 out of the $33 that the passenger paid will go to the “Extra Comfort” driver.

$20 cancellation fee! That’s more than the ride itself!

The passenger got in my car, changed her mind and cancelled the ride. Lyft charged her $10 for canceling. How did I get $20?

Has this ever happened to anyone before where their cancellation fee is higher than their actual ride?

Passenger was very nice and was on a business call most of the time. We talked for a while after she’s finished on the phone. I dropped her off at someone’s house where she was about to drive 7 hours to Arizona with her friends to meet her other friends.

In my 800 rides with Lyft, this was the first time where someone tipped me both in cash and then also on the app right after.

Her occupation did pay for her $61 fare so I guess that did help contribute to her ability to tip.

Edit: people are misunderstanding me. When I said that this is one of my best rides, I was accounting for all the tips. Without the tips, this was just an okay ride for me.

Look at how much a driver is getting in the first picture and how much they are charging the passenger in the second.

I drive a turbocharged SUV that gets 24mpg. Premium gas is $6. Doing math, this trip would cost $8 in gas! Subtract that from $24 and I would make only $16 from this trip!

$16 to drive 33 miles!

And this is a comfort ride too. Really Lyft? This is an even worse pay than a standard ride.

4 months ago, I financed a certified pre owned 2025 Mazda CX-5 with 5000 miles. It has 10000 miles now.

It came with 3 year/36000 miles basic and 7 years/100000 miles powertrain warranties.

At the time, I got the Mazda VSA extended warranty for $2195 which extends both my basic and powertrain to 8 years/150000 miles.

Since I am cancelling after 30 days, there will be a $50 cancellation fee and my $2195 will be pro-rated and a lesser amount will be deducted from my principal since I'm still financing.

If the warranty is for 8 years and I only had the car for 4 months, should I expect to get back close the full amount?

How much of the $2195 am I expecting to get deducted from my principal?
