What smaller autofocus L-mount lens options do you use?

Since the latest SL3 firmware, I find myself reaching for my SL3 over my Q2 more and more when I want autofocus. But unlike the Q, the SL3 with a Leica lens is much heavier; when Lumix released their 40mm f/2, I got curious about whether it would bridge that gap enough to give my SL3 a good lightweight travel option.

I’ve been using it for several weeks now, and I found that on the SL3, this Lumix lens balances surprisingly well. It successfully knocks the weight down to a very manageable level for longer walks, and I like that it allows me to use smaller bags than when I have my 50mm APO or the 24-90mm attached. I did a write up along with some sample photos if anyone is interested in this lens here: https://www.konstantinkokoris.com/reviews/lens-review-panasonic-lumix-40m-f2

Aside from using M-mount lenses, has anyone else been using this or found a smaller lens that they like to use on their SL?

Moving to an SL3-P?

I’ve been shooting with the SL3 for a while now, and honestly, it’s been a tank. I’ve dragged it through hurricane-force winds and salt spray at the beach, and it just keeps working.

With the new SL3-P out, I’m seeing a lot of hype, but I’ve found that the 4.0 firmware update already closed the autofocus gap enough for my needs. For those who are debating, I wrote up a blog about my thoughts on the SL3 in 2026: https://www.konstantinkokoris.com/

I’m curious, are you planning on making the jump to the SL3-P, or are you going to stick with your current SL?

Looking for lens advice

I recently picked up a used 907x 100c. I got it with the XCD 45 f/3.5, but I was thinking of exchanging it for the XCD 45p, mainly for its smaller size. Although I could see myself wanting either the 38v or 55v sometime in the next year, I was thinking of just adapting some of the lenses I have in the meantime and saving up for a V series. I am hoping to get some input from other users on what they recommend.

I've tried the Sigma 105mm and the Lumix 100mm — both capable lenses, but neither quite clicked for me. The Sigma was a bit heavier and larger than I wanted in an occasional-use macro lens, while the Lumix was lighter; I didn't love its rendering, so I started looking elsewhere and ended up somewhere I wasn't expecting. What other macro lenses have you all tried aside from the Sigma or Lumix options?

Right now, my favorite lens is the Leica 100mm APO-Macro-Elmarit-R lens. I can easily adapt it to other camera bodies, and I really like the way it renders images. I just finished writing up my thoughts on this lens, if anyone is interested in reading more on it.
