East Coast transplants: what's the closest cheese you've found here to Cooper's sharp American?

Yes, I'm aware you can't buy it here...

Yes, I'm aware it can be bought online, in a massive amount with a long wait...

I'm really curious to try it, bc I hear it's really tasty. Since it's not easily accessible, I was wondering if anyone has found a local brand that kinda tastes like it?

My only other option is to beg Arby's to sell me the Cooper cheese they're using on their cheesesteak, but I don't imagine getting very far with that lol.

Anyone here work for (or know anyone working at) Tesla?

A few months ago, someone quit my company to go do bi claims there.

I looked up the job description and seen the starting pay was in the 90-100k range for very little experience. Felt off.

Just curious if anyone has heard how it is there.

Free burritos at JV's Taco Shop on 07/02/26 at 11 am.

The taco fiend did a buyout to help support the family of the owner of JVs who passed away. They will be giving away 250 pollo asada and carne asada burritos.

Question about the last panel of the night on Saturday, Hall H

I think there's been a lot of good information about the Marvel panel process, thank you all for that.

I want to experience a panel on Saturday but I don't want to have to waste a day in the line, so after everything I've read, the best chance is for the final panel.

Can someone share their experience on this? Is there a still huge line to get into the last panel?

1st time attendee...question about the unofficial blog re: food

Does the blog put out a complete list of all the pop up food/snacks/restaurants participating with comicon themed food? Or do they just announce it as the news comes in each day?

Bob Dylan at the Shell 06/21/26 and things I learned about catching shows from the promenade

TLDR: catching Bob Dylan from the promenade was great, but reentry is inconsistent if you need to use the bathroom.

First, thank you for everyone who replied to my annoying posts asking about this last week. I did end up going, and still need to work out the transportation logistics for any future shows.

I got to the Shell around 5:40 pm. They let me in the west promenade side with no issue, but they still make you walk through a metal detector and they check your bags.

I was able to secure a spot by the rocks on the west side next to a fun group. The advantage of being by the rocks or a bench is being able to stand on them and see the show better without blocking anyone's view behind you.

One thing I learned is that the entry/reentry is inconsistent, depending on who is working. The only bathroom is outside the promenade by the Bait and Burgers place. I made a bathroom trip before any performers, so no issue coming and going.

During Lucinda Williams, it was kind of case by case. Guy next to me was warned no reentry if he leaves, but then granted access to come back when he tried again a half hour later.

Another thing I learned about being on the west side is that you get to see the performers come in and leave in cars since they use that area as a vehicle access way to and from the back of the Shell. Plus watch the sunset and see all the boats in the water.

I enjoyed watching Bob Dylan. I know there were complaints about how he's a lousy performer, but to me he was just Bob Dylan being Bob Dylan. Sound at the Shell is great. Would absolutely catch another show from the side again.

Press badge shipping eta?

Hi,

Signed up for shipping prior to the 05/07/26 deadline.

Looked at the official sdcc site which said "all badges will be shipped 3-4 weeks before the event."

Do press badges go out later than regular attendees? No tracking number yet but got the general email.

Una Mas on Adams

I drive past this place early weekend mornings sometimes and that's really it. Due to work, haven't been able to check it out during their hours.

Just curious how the food is? I see they have a $17 brisket crunch wrap on the menu...

It aounds like the Zoo is going to keep paid parking for non members (for now)

Got this email:

As a special member of our family, we want to share the latest updates on parking at the San Diego Zoo.

The City has announced a rollback of paid parking in Balboa Park. We are assessing next steps and are not making any changes to our parking program at this time. For San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance members like you, complimentary parking at the Zoo and Safari Park will continue as one of your membership benefits.

As a global nonprofit conservation organization, we are grateful for members like you who help us save, protect, and care for wildlife each and every day. We appreciate you and can’t wait to see you on your next visit to Zoo and Safari Park!

Together for wildlife,

Kym Harvey

Senior Membership Manager

San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance

I wonder if it's because they got into a contract with Ace for a specific amount of time?

Question about concerts at the Shell (experience from outside the venue)

Hi,

Money is tight, so I can't really afford the lowest price tickets for the upcoming Bob Dylan concert, but I really want to go and try to enjoy it from the outside.

I know that sounds incredibly ghetto, and if it was within my budget, I'd definitely get a ticket.

How are the views/ sounds outside the shell? Has anyone ever tried to watch a concert from outside?

EDIT: thank you everyone for the feedback and visuals!

Feeling fat... looking for a place that serves both cheesesteaks and battered fries

I did check some places, but input appreciated as I'm sure I missed a few.

Wise ox- they have beef tallow fries, but not battered.

Giorginos- couldn't find fries on the menu or photos. (Edit, ty to the person who let me know they serve fries.)

Gaglione - fries aren't battered.

Evans- fries aren't battered.

Thank you!

Where can I find glassware for espresso locally?

Just looking for 1 or 2 small glasses for shots or to make a cortado that's reasonably priced? Wanted to shop locally if possible. I don't need a whole set, just looking for a couple. Thank you!

People who buy these-- do you eat them on the go? Or dress them up at home/work?

A $2.00 sandwich is a great deal in this economy, but if I didn't have water in the car, I would have been very uncomfortable.

Just curious if others eat these as is, or dressed up?

u/midwayatmidnight — 2 months ago

Not affiliated with them...just thought I'd pass this along to anyone looking for a cheap eat.

  1. $5.00 grab and go breakfast burritos all through the month of May. See the image for the choices.

  2. Free coffee on May 10th. No purchase necessary.

Edit: this is for the El Cajon Blvd location.

Hi,

Looking to upgrade my hiking shoes for my big wide feet, and wanted to see if there's other locally owned stores that have a decent selection of hiking shoes/boots?

Nothing against REI at all, but just looking to expand my search and would love to also support a local store and try as many on in store.

Thank you!
