Is it me or is this bank's customer service plummeting?

I've been with HSBC for 19 years, in that time my local branch has closed 4 times, to the point where it isn't even local anymore.

I am happy to use online banking, so that's just a minor annoyance. But I've had two recent gripes with the online banking which has be tempted to just close all my accounts and move bank.

Firstly, I was in holiday and my card was cloned, it happens, what doesn't happen is it took over 36 hours for the bank to respond to my messages leaving me without any bank cards for this time as I wasn't able to order a new one and add it to my phone wallet.

And now, I'm trying to get an appointment to discuss getting a mortgage in person (because it's a big topic and I don't want to entrust it to a phone call alone) and they refused to offer me an in person mortgage appointment as I had not made an offer on a house.

I asked for a general finance appointment, the waiting list is over a month.

What is the point with this bank anymore?

A whole lot of work just to get a position light working

As part of my aircraft restoration project, I've been sinking an ungodly amount of time and manpower, the result. We've got the position light working, one bulb out of a whole aircraft... on the bright side, that means most of the electronics are now live and working.

On a completely unrelated note, anyone here able to refurbish a grimes light?

Lots to do, it'll take a couple of years to get this aircraft fully restored, so expect lots of small bits as and when milestones are reached.

Best way to alter the colour of an LED bulb.

First and foremost, yes I know buying the right colour is the best option. But let's put that aside since I'm trying to work with what I already have.

I'm currently restoring a vintage aircraft for static display. Part of this restoration is an overhaul of the aircrafts electrics and lighting, importantly, changing it from incandescent to LED to help manage my power budget.

I have a bunch of LED lights that are great because they fit the original fittings and fixtures which saves a great degree of butchering which cannot be reversed. The only downside is they are a harsh "cold" white and not the colour that you'd expect from an old incandescent bulb.

Where possible, I've purchased warm white bulbs, but sadly that's not possible for all fixtures. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with anything I can use either a coloured film or paint that softens the tone of colour of these bulbs, and could provide me with a recommendation?

I've previously tried filtered plastic adhesive sheets, but despite being advertised as adhesive, they were anything but. Due to this, I'm inclined to lean for something I can paint on the bulb to tint it that way.

New wiring harness for my aircraft restoration project

It's been a while since my last update, I've been mostly working on getting wires to the extremities of the aircraft to bring the beacons and nav lights back online and sourcing missing gauges. With this, has come a new means of powering, and as such, I've taken the opportunity to address the main body of wiring which was starting to resemble an aftermarket 1980s car alarm.

Cue an absolute boat load of wiring all nicely bundled and colour coordinated, labelled up for the new wiring logic to be fitted in a project box behind the co-pilot seat in the avionics bay. (A job for next week)

I've also sourced and fitted a new battery with a fresh main battery fuse.

Hopefully with these additions and the provisions made, I'll have most of my external lighting online by the end of the month along with upgraded interior lights.

Next will be the small job of making the very leaky aircraft water tight and address the corrosion that is still to do.

No chance of a repaint before next summer at this rate, but things are progressing

How bad is the corrosion looking on my aygo?

Hi, I've just had to pop my head under my car to inspect something and took some general photos of the condition of the underside of my car, it's a 2012 Aygo living in the UK. I was wondering if someone with mechanical expertise could inform me on how bad the corrosion is looking on my car, bearing in mind that I intend to keep the car for many more years.

Also is the sheen on my gearbox anything to be concerned about? I got some on my finger and it doesn't look like it's engine oil, but I can't say definitely. It's hot and dry currently, I've not used air conditioning since yesterday evening.

The first two photos are from the front and the second two are the rear.

Help sizing gauge screws

I'm working on restoring a Percival Prince and am looking to repopulate the missing gauges in the cockpit. I've sourced some gauges, but not the hardware to install them.

I'm wondering if there's any chance that anyone knows what screw thread the gauges could possibly be? The gauges I've sourced are for British designed aircraft ranging from the 1940s to the 1970s.

Thank you
