The terrible state of leather handbags

Today I went to Chadstone which is a big deal for me since I live 1.5hrs away at a minimum on the other side of the city, to potentially browse some posh shops and look for a leather handbag in the $300 - $800 range.

Boy was I disappointed in the quality I cam across! Is it just me, or is leather shit now? A whole bunch of bags i see influencers pushing were so disappointing. They LOOK nice, but feel dreadful.

Vestirsi - felt cheap, the suede felt extra cheap. There was one that felt nice the Ava structured Tote - It wasn't the right bag for me, but actually felt like leather. I was so bummed on this one, I really liked the idea of the Bella bag, and the Eden bag.

Reh Studios - ugh ugh ugh. So disappointing. They're a clear rip off of the Balenciaga Rodeo bag, but total plastic feel.

Saben - just meh.

Deadly Ponies - there was one bag that felt nice and lux, but again not the right bag for me.

It was all so underwhelming.

I did actually rate some of the Oroton though. Which suprised me, since I see them as a "my Mum's handbag brand" so I will think more on if that could work for what I want (something big enough to put my camera gear in, a water bottle, phone, lipstick, etc).

The strathberry bags also looked decent but were inside a glass case so i didn't touch them.

Then I went to Hermes and bought a scarf instead. At least I know it's quality 😉

Buying Vintage Designer Fashion / Handbags online

I really really love luxury designer fashion, but I really really can't afford the majority of it. So I want to know - where do you shop online for vintage designer goods that is trustworthy?
I keep reading horror stories about TRR and Vestiare, so I'm on the hunt for small online retailers to check out?

Also if you know of good vintage designer shops in Melbourne, I'm interested in those too 😄

Contact Store to see specific items before purchasing?

I have my eye on a few different silk scarves online and want to see them in person so I can check the colours on me before I select one. My closest store does not have them all in stock - should I contact the store and ask if they can order them all in so I can see them?
Or is that a no go?

I'm not after a bag, I just love their silk scarves and am starting a collection. I do also love the jumping boots, scarf rings and collier de chien cuffs and belts, so I'd like to also purchase those over time as well.

I am in Melbourne, Aust if that makes a difference.
