What was the best freebie (makeup) you ever got?
I’ll go first. I once got a loyalty voucher by mistake. I hadn’t spent enough to qualify but got sent one anyway. Tell me about your best makeup freebie please?

I have dry flaky eczema prone skin, and my skin usually starts to crease, crack and flake throughout the day. I use a toner and moisturiser before applying my foundation but how can rehydrate my makeup during the day? I’ve tried using a regular setting spray but they don’t do much to inject moisture into the skin.
Just wondering if there are any chemists or makeup stores that stock any Beauty of Joseon sunscreen products here locally?
Hello lovelies!
I’ve picked up some awesome bargains in the past but the Aussie Makeup Trade sub is pretty quiet of late. I don’t think the mods are still active but I messaged them this morning to update the ISO pins.
I was thinking we could revive it by visiting there again.. just a reminder it’s still there I guess ☺️☺️
I have a Mecca voucher and want to use it for a new base product. I've seen a lot of good reviews for the Ellis Faas foundation—it seems to be a product that not that many people use, but almost every person who does use it loves it, so I wanted to see if anyone here has an opinion on it. And feel free to talk me out of it if you're not a fan! :)
ETA: Especially amazing if anyone has tried both the Ellis Faas and the even more expensive Victoria Beckham Foundation Drops, which is unfortunately the best foundation I've tried in years, I think, and how you think they compare.

Update:
Hi everyone! I wanted to give you all an update on the saga with Sephora Australia regarding their recent "Extra 10% off Sale" app promotion and the shocking customer service experience that followed. First of all, thank you to everyone who commented on my initial post and validated that what Sephora was doing was not okay!
The TL;DR of the madness: I bought the Beautyblender Bounce Haus Essentials Set on sale ($70 down to $49, which is 30% off). The app explicitly advertised the "Extra 10% off Sale" promo banner directly under this item on the product page. When it didn’t apply at checkout, I emailed support thinking it was a simple glitch. Instead of fixing it, I was put through an absolute gauntlet:
The Resolution: Once I had them in writing admitting that their app is designed to mislead shoppers, I stopped being nice. I formally demanded an escalation to management, cited Section 18 and Section 29 of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) regarding misleading price representations, and stated I was preparing a report for Consumer Affairs Victoria and the ACCC.
Suddenly, my ticket was moved to a "Senior Resolutions Team" for a week-long investigation.
Today, I finally received confirmation: they have approved my refund back to Apple Pay.
And how much was this grand refund that Sephora fought me tooth and nail over, lied to me about, and retroactively altered web pages to defend? ...$4.99.
Five dollars! They burned through multiple customer service reps and a week of investigations over a five-dollar discrepancy that their own buggy app caused. In their final email, they completely glossed over the lies and the fake tags, simply saying they "recorded my feedback regarding the differing information provided."
The Moral of the Story: I am a little petty, but this was never about the $5... it was about the principle! If I didn't have time-stamped screenshots of my cart and the product page at the exact moment of purchase, I would have been gaslit out of my money. Hundreds of other shoppers probably were during this sale!
Always take screenshots of promo banners and prices on the Sephora app before you check out. Know your rights under Australian Consumer Law, stand your ground, and hold these mega-retailers to account!
I went to Myer to buy an Idole flanker, around $220 on sale. Upon purchasing I asked for a Good Girl Blush sample to try, as I explained to the sales girl I wanted to expand my perfume collection.
She tells me she was unable to do as she works under Lancome, and not the general fragrances counter. No problem, she’d provide some Lancôme fragrance samples then, right? Wrong.
Apparently because I bought it on sale, I wasn’t able to get any fragrance sample and was given 2 tiny skincare sachets instead. When did I ever show interest in skincare? I spent $220 on a fragrance but couldn’t get even one fragrance sample? (which leads to more potential sales for them!)
AdoreBeauty had also removed the 2 free samples with each order 😭
I have bought SO many fragrances for myself and others after falling in love with a sample, being able to test on skin, body chemistry and longevity etc.
What is going on with this greed? Has anyone else noticed or experienced this?
Hii!!
Anyone know if the new MAC skinfinish colour struck blushes are out of stock in aus or just not available yet?
I’m soooo keen for the shade film noir buff but it’s not available on the MAC site :,)
thank uuuu
Anyone else unable to checkout from Adore yesterday or today? This is happening to me via app or browser. No way to remove the perfume sample from cart as it auto adds it.
Is Mecca worth a go? Any other suggestions?
I would love some advice here. I love the biab look but I’m really reluctant for the uv light because of the cancer risk. Is there anywhere in Sydney that can do biab or similar without uv light? Is that even possible?
I was right guys! Adore Beauty no longer sells Kayali 😭
I tried to return a completely unused curling wand to Sephora. They told me they had to have a photo of the GHD tag on the electrical cord for the return. To do so I had to unzip the bag it came in and take the photo.
Now they have denied my return as the item "wasn't pristine and untouched".
No hate if you’re not a fan, no politics please. I’m into Mcobeauty atm and I’m curious what everyone would recommend as there’s so many? also ethically I think it’s good way to try many products and sometimes even then going to buy the OG of the dupe. it can be a gamble spending on makeup. I personally really like the ultra repair ceramide cream as I have dry skin and it’s winter and the byredo dupe perfume mists. please share your favourites!
Does anyone recommend an alternative to the loccitane shower oil?
I’ve been on BYS’ PR list for 5 years now as a consumer (I’m not an influencer and I’m not paid). Some of it is garbage, and I’ve also found some amazing hidden gems!
If anyone is thinking of a purchase, let me know and I’ll tell you if it’s good or not!
Scary, I had no idea that shampoo could contain deadly bacteria. Not a good look for Oribe.
I am not educated in the skill of make up haha, I wear mascara and a bit of eyeshadow. I do plan on learning how to do more makeup but I don’t know anything about brands or quality.
I am looking for a palette that includes the kinds of colours in the pictures above, and it would be if they were long lasting. OR I also appreciate any tips that will help my make up stay looking nice and not become smudged within the first hour.
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has had a good experience with a MUA that does full glam makeup. I’m going to a show and want the femme fatale look and possibly hair too.
I’ve light olive skin and had bad experiences where the artist made me orange.
I felt like I was constantly buying products based on reviews from people whose skin looked nothing like mine.
So I spent the last few months building an app, where you can share and save beauty products with the context that actually matters - skin type, colour, concerns
I would love to hear what you guys think?
