I apologise if this post deviates from the usual post of this subreddit. I’m a collector of Swiss army items and I wanted to know if there was a particular distinction between how these 2 helmets are referred to, and if so, what the difference is & what the history behind them is. Thanks!
I found this image on a Japanese website with the following caption:
“A similar design to this British Army-style vest is also used by the Danish Army and other forces. According to one collector, a group in Denmark that produced vests of the same design supplied them to the Swiss Military Police.
Unfortunately, I was unable to acquire this one either, so this is just a reference photo.
Importing it would cost nearly 100,000 yen, including expenses.”
Does anybody know anything about this vest? I’d appreciate any info regarding it, thank you!

Mi sono reso conto che molte persone in Svizzera possiedono oggetti militari, propri o dei propri genitori, di cui non hanno bisogno e che occupano solo spazio in attesa di essere buttati via.
Detto questo, vorrei offrirmi di liberarvi da questi oggetti :). Se vi fa comodo, posso passare a ritirarli, così non occuperanno più spazio e non verranno gettati via inutilmente. Se avete qualcosa di cui vorreste liberarvi, non esitate a scrivermi!
I’m a collector of militaria, specially Swiss army items, but I’ve found that most places (brockis, ricardo.ch, tutti.ch, etc.) have awful prices for these items. By any chance, does anybody here know where else I may be able to find Swiss army items? If, by chance, you have any military items yourself that you’re looking to get rid of, I’ll happily take them off your hands. Thank you!
I’m an avid collector of Swiss army stuff, and I’ve noticed a strange trend; while surplus items from a particular country tend to be less expensive in the country in question, this isn’t the case in Switzerland.
Cold War uniform pieces which go for €10 to €30 in the rest of Europe, suddenly go for 50.- to even 100.- here. Why is this? It’s not like they’re particularly rare, and while they are used as fashion items, I’d then expect the foreign price to at least match the domestic price. There isn’t a huge market for Swiss militaria in Switzerland either, I’d go so far as to say that there’s a bigger market for Swiss militaria outside of Switzerland rather than inside of it.
Having said that, I’d like to ask; does anybody know if there’s a specific reason why Swiss army prices seem to be so inflated here? Thanks!
This is a bag I thrifted today, but when trying to visit the website on it, swiss-chriss.ch, it just says that the site can’t be reached. I’m quite a big fan of this bag & I’d love to see if whoever made it makes any other items in the same camouflage, as well as knowing its history. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!
