How did rallying (motorsport) become quite huge in Zambia? and is it still big?

I was reading about the Singhs, Ticklays, Gomes', David Sihoka and others, the history of rallying seems to be huge in Zambia, but I don't remember it being talked about in everyday gatherings - how big is it now?

Proof of funds for study visa

I have the following options (and i don't have a bank account myself at the moment), please advise:

  • company sponsorship letter, but it is not an 'international' company
  • company transfers required funds to my parent but then I would have to wait 28 days to apply for visa
  • i don't know how true but: i saw an option online which says if my parents pay upfront the entire tuition fee to the university, then i only need to show funds for living expenses - but i guess these also have to be in some individual (not company due to first point above) account for minimum 28 days during the time of the visa application - 1. my parents are not comfortable paying the university everything right away before i even start the degree -and-, they may not have the funds for living expenses in their individual accounts, most of our money is in the company accounts

Hiring a software developer

Please DM, this is a proper job on-site full-time in Lusaka. Not a part-time gig. Will communicate properly via LinkedIn and email if I find the lead to be genuine.

Experience with StockBrokers Zambia?

I mean these folks barely respond to queries or trade instructions in time, they just have an annoying automated system which raises tickets which say we shall respond in 24 working hours - which they don't do. wanted to find out what other people's experience with SBZ is - and recommendations for other brokers

Personal Finance in Zambia?

How do Zambians go about their investments and savings:

  • which Kwacha accounts offer attractive interest rates for savings/fixed deposits?
  • how about investing on the LuSE + what are the tax implications of any realized capital gains?
  • how about investing in GRZ bonds?
  • how about investing in funds such as Prudential, Aflife, and so on

i would love to hear people's experiences in doing the above

Why? There's no clear opposition to the ruling government, why waste resources making these people walk all over the city? Is it for voter turnout? Is voter turnour a requirement from the IMF or something?

Do Zambians have a penchant for reading? I was thinking as to why there aren't any online bookstores/famous libraries in Zambia (would've been so convenient to just open a website and buy a book delivered to your place/borrow from a nice library) - but then I wondered, is there demand for it? Are Zambians, generally, avid readers? Is reading as a pastime or for learning (not as part of formal education, just as someone who wants to learn for fun) encouraged?
