i feel like ppd is ruining me

I don’t even know what to say or do anymore. I believe I have ruined my life.

Ever since I had my baby a year ago, it feels like my body has constantly been in flight or fight. I’m exhausted. My mental health is in shambles. I’m irritable and mean and unpredictable. I don’t recognize who I am. Not in my head or in the mirror.

Three months PP I ended it with my baby’s dad. I had/have good reasons, but looking back, I realize too how awful my OCD had been especially as I was not medicated at the time. I left him and moved in with my dad several states away.

It’s been almost nine months since then and I’m not feeling better. In fact, I’m feeling significantly worse. It feels like I can never get ahead, or do anything right. I haven’t been able to get a job as I’ve been struggling with childcare. I’ve applied for aid, but have gotten denied due to issues with some documents, and I feel touched-out 24/7. Most of the time I am dissociating.

Yesterday morning, I snapped at my younger sister. I had sat the baby down in the high chair with my sister in the kitchen and quickly scurried away to go pee. When I came back, my baby was alone, and my sister often acts like she doesn’t exist. I know I should not have snapped at her. My baby is not her responsibility.

My dad came in a little while later flying off the handle at me. Instead of sticking to the situation at hand, he quickly devolved into insults, telling me I will be just like my mom and always coast by, because I haven’t gotten a job yet. I lamented to him about letting baby daddy just have the baby. Then I could get a job and get my feet under me a little better. He told me I should. Because it’s the easy way out. And I always take the easy way out. Just like my mom.

Nothing constructive. No help or advice. Only insults.

I had a breakdown and drove states away back to my exes. Who is being kind. No questions asked. Happy to have baby here. All of my stuff is still at my dad’s. I haven’t even spoke to him.

I’m starting to not trust my thoughts and feelings. I don’t know what’s true or in my head. I’m so tired. I don’t know what I am doing. I don’t know who I am.

AM vs PM

Which one worked for you better and why?

I’m struggling with really bad dizziness, but I heard this medication can cause insomnia and/or nightmares and want to avoid that as well. I’m still on my first couple of days but I can’t hold anything down.

for anyone searching for contact removal tips

After a ton of Google searches and following some tips, I struggled to find a solution that worked for me when my eye contact was on my eye and wouldn’t budge. I came here to share my experience in case it helps others, as reading other people’s experiences helped me.

I’m a new contacts user and yesterday, I put in my contacts in the morning. It’s allergy season. I cried a bit. And I didn’t get home until late. Long story short: my eyes were dry as heck.

I got one contact out with little issue. The other eye? A drama queen. No amount of additional contact solution, contacts-safe eye drops, pinching, rubbing, or messing with my eye in general seemed to be able to move this contact. I went to sleep with one eye contact in because I was so tired and frustrated, I figured I’d try it again tomorrow.

Then the next day had similar results. I tried looking at my nose. I tried pulling the contact to the side, or down, and IT. WOULD. NOT. BUDGE.

Despite numerous posts saying that most of the time the eye contact isn’t even in if something like this happens, every time I put on my glasses, it was like my vision was swimming. It was not a fun time.

So I bit the bullet and called the doctor. Not only did they tell me that this is normal, and it happens, but they gave me one major tip that I did not see any where in my searches. Mind you, I opened almost every Reddit post I could find for any advice. Either I’m blind, or this was an obvious solution and I’m a bit silly, but hear me out:

Make sure your eyes are wet. There are lubricating eyedrops specifically for use with contacts. When looking in the mirror, turn your head to the side so the eye you are trying to take the contact out of is not the one closest to the mirror.

With the other eye, you’re going to be using that to see what you are doing. The eye with the contact in it is going to be looking sideways to glance at the mirror, and angled towards your nose with most of your whites showing.

It’s like you’re giving yourself a giant side-eye in the mirror.

THEN put your finger on the contact and slide it towards the whites and pinch it.

I hope this helps anyone who was struggling like I was. I’m probably really sillllllllly, but… maybe other people are like me and it just didn’t click for them.

And don’t be afraid to call the doctor! They were incredibly nice and validating for me.
