I can’t believe I’m saying this, but The Power of the Doctor should’ve been Nu-Who’s finale
It’s truly insane to me that we live in a timeline where Chris Chibnall wrote a better finale to Doctor Who than Russell T. Davies, but here we are. I’m aware this was the end of the recognised Series 1–Flux Nu-Who, but, in my opinion, it should’ve gone on hiatus from here (as it very nearly did).
I’d say I enjoyed RTD2 slightly more than the Chibnall era. But at least the latter writer’s final episode felt like an actual celebration of the show to bring it to an end.
The series could’ve concluded with 13’s open-ended regeneration for a new showrunner to pick up with an entirely clean slate. Such a damn shame.
Oh well. The song is ending, but the story never ends.
