Truly Tiny/Double Mahoi Banana update

Right when I think my Truly Tiny can’t get any bigger…it does! Currently 4 foot tall with a 5.6” diameter base which from what I gather is a very large truly tiny. Also my double Mahoi dwarf cavendish which is roughly 7’ to leaf tip from soil. Both are in 30 gallon grow bags (which are starting to look small in comparison to the plant) Truly tiny currently has 26 active leaves which is insane.

Potted Truly Tiny Banana

My 43” tall patio Truly Tiny. She loves her 30 gallon pot and currently has a base diameter of almost 5 1/2 inches! Also currently has 22 active leaves, which I would imagine is quite impressive. Also through in a pic of my 7’ tall double mahoi banana with a base diameter of 5.75”. Zone 6B

Indoor Potted Bananas

Figured I would post an update of my indoor potted bananas. I have 3 varieties, Truly Tiny (Super Dwarf Cavendish), Double Mahoi Cavendish, and standard Dwarf cavendish labeled as (Tropicana Banana). They have seen explosive growth over the past few months, the beginning photo (last image) was taken July 11th 2025, so not even a year yet. I do believe my Truly Tiny is getting close to flowering fingers crossed. They are all in 30gallon grow bags. The grow bags are huge so it’s deceptive how large the bananas are. For reference I’m 5’7 and if I stood with my arm stretched up the tip of the double Mahoi is out of reach. Ceilings are 8.5’

Truly Tiny- 40” total height, 4.75” base diameter
Double Mahoi- 6.5’ total height, 30” pseudostem height, 5.5” base diameter
Tropicana Banana- didn’t measure- slightly smaller than Double Mahoi.

Beard Dye/Color

I post in here quite a bit and have been active in this subreddit for awhile, and something I don’t see talked about is beard dye and coloring. I posted the other day frustrated with my results after 1 1/2 years so I actually switched to topical. But I grew my beard for about 2 weeks and realized I have nearly full coverage it’s just light hairs. I got this product that isn’t a dye but you put it on daily and it darkens your hair. As you can see I actually have a decent beard but the hairs just aren’t dark and terminal. The first pic is my start 1.5 years ago and the middle pick is from last week (so there’s a slight length difference but not crazy) and the bottom pick is after putting the coloring on. The results look very natural. It’s my own beard and my own hair just slightly darker. The product was $11 and says about 30 uses but I think with the amount I used it would probably be at least 3x that. This is definitely not something I would use all the time, and will probably go back to clean shaved for work, just because I don’t want to have to put it on everyday. But for those of you stuck with hairs stubborn getting darker this could be a game changer! Just lightly brushed on and let sit for a few min then gave a gentle wipe off. There’s no smearing and I could press and rub my hand into my face and none would come off. Something to look into!

Has anyone gone from Topical to Oral Minoxidil?

Posted the other week and after some consideration I’ve decided to switch from Topical Minox to 2.5mg oral Minox. I’ve been on topical 2x day for about a year and a half. Has anyone done the same thing and noticed good progress after? Here is my progress so far.

Calling it Quits

14 months on the left vs 18 months on the right. Don’t know anymore if it’s another shitty shed or if it looked this bad last time and it was just a little more grown out, or if it’s just lighting. Going on 2 years and feel I haven’t made any progress since 5 months In. I’ve had thousands of vellus hairs for over a year with no signs of them darkening.

Made okay progress in the first few months that gave me hope. Had a shed and thought “this is it it’s going to come back thicker and progress some more” but it really didn’t. It came back to same level and stalled. Made maybe a handful of hairs in the following year, lots of vellus but doesn’t seem any of them matured. In a spot I’d hate to lose what I gained but also I can’t do this for the rest of my life, as some point I gotta call it a day and accept it’s not going to happen for me. Very underwhelming for the amount of money and time put in

Truly Tiny Banana Indoors

I believe I am close to getting a flower in a pot. It is in a 30gallon grow bag under strong grow lights. I keep the room roughly 85 degrees. First picture was the tissue culture I got in June, second pic was August, third was January, and final picture was today. It’s about 4.5” at the base and 42” tall to leaf tip. Canopy has gotten very tight and leafs have slowly decreased in size although nothing has changed. Should be within the next few weeks to couple months if I had to guess. Very exciting (Also through a picture of my Double Mahoi banana in as well) Grown in PA
