Canvas assignments have integrated AI?

At a recent committee meeting, during a discussion of AI, a faculty member commented that there is an AI integrated into assignments on Canvas, such that when there was a reading associated with an assignment, they were asked if they wanted a bullet point summary of the reading. Is this a Canvas-wide thing, is it student-facing, is it a local implementation thing; does anyone have any knowledge or insights about this? They just presented this as a thing and didn’t have any more information but I am curious about it. I already have concerns about students actually doing any of the work – this would be the icing on the cake!

Trigger?

My migraines start with a pinpoint blind spot in the middle of my visual field, and within five minutes spread to tunnel vision with a full glimmering aura before headache and nausea and sensitivities etc. If I take Fioronal at the first sign, either the pinpoint or usually, since I typically wait 5 minutes, for the tunnel vision with the glimmering shimmering kaleidoscope jagged aura, after the med, then it recedes within 15 minutes and is gone within 1/2 hour, and I don’t get the headache and nausea.

I’ve been getting them about every three weeks now. Yesterday I had one, sitting in a chair in the back room with bright windows in front of me, wearing older Rx glasses. Today at the same time of day I was sitting in the same place, same glasses, when I started getting the pinpoint blind spot so I knew one was coming. Instead of taking my meds, I went into a dark room and changed to dark glasses with the current Rx, and it seemed to recede. It didn’t get worse, and I never got the full aura, although I got some mild nausea and mild headache, which I don’t get on the meds.

Could the light and old glasses be a trigger?

Second meal on my new 22”w/hood!!

New to the community, but I had to share. Hope this is okay. I’ve been a Weber kettle griller, with a gas grill too for convenience, and I never thought about getting a griddle, but when I saw this on the discount table for $99 at Rural King, I jumped. First meal was French toast, pancakes the next day, and tonight I made tortillas, which are super easy (flour, oil, salt, water), and fajitas. Best fajitas I’ve ever had! They were the leftovers of a tomahawk rib steak made on the Weber, so it was rare to start. This was the first time I ever made any of these things, and it came together so fast! All those years of working a flat top in restaurants really paid off. It’s nice to cook on the deck without heating up the house.

I’m glad I got this! Now I see what all the shouting is about. For camping or cooking meals outside, it’s superb! Here’s the links to the recipes I used, roughly: https://www.inspiredtaste.net/48394/flour-tortillas/

(I added some small tomatoes cut into eighths, got a nice char on them).

Disappointed with new cc cookie thin

Eagerly awaited Thursday for the chocolate chip cookie thins, my favorite. Not any more. They have changed. The texture is not as good -not chewy in the middle. I guess these were actually almost burnt, because they tasted that way, and maybe that’s why they were too crispy and dry. But they also were not so delicious, and there was a prominent “eggy”note. There wasn’t salt on top. I don’t think it would have stuck anyway because the cookie was much too dry. I’m glad I cashed my crumbs because I am now free from having to go and get these, but I’m sad, because the Martha Stewart Chocolate Chip cookie thins were incredible. I would wait weeks and weeks for them, and now I will miss them forever. I guess we were lucky we had them at all! RIP.🪦 🍪

American Chestnut trees, but are they?

We purchased 4 trees from a Wisconsin Nursery mail order, marketed as American Chestnut trees. But are they? Based on what I’ve seen here, maybe we were misled? Opinions? Thanks.

Student writes: my final grade calculates
to a 79.5%. I am just wondering if this would be a C+ or a B- according to the syllabus?”.
This is the literal example given in the syllabus, following where it says grades round up at .5

Kudos to the student for being able to do the math, but why are they asking me what the syllabus says instead of actually consulting the syllabus? It’s right there on the lms, where they actually had to message me from.

They would rather bother me than actually click on a link.
