Potato cleaning hacks?

Where I live the potatoes all come with a bit of dirt on them. Normally you just scrub them and that’s fine.

Are there any zero energy ways to get around this? Like, can you soak them and does the dirt lift off, or something like that? We both have ME and can’t manage the scrubbing

Rare access inside French Navy nuclear attack submarine 'Suffren'

A lot of talking and not a lot of detail, but it’s interesting to get some inside views.

Having to manage all that complexity and being able to do it in a second language? Impressive

There’s two main ways I eat. I either eat a small breakfast of porridge and apples around 1300, and a bigger dinner around 18/1900, or I skip the breakfast and just eat dinner.

On the days I skip breakfast, my heart rate is *so* much calmer. It’s lower by a good 5-10bpm, and my POTS is much more chilled. My heart rate takes longer to spike, spikes less hard, and gets back to resting quicker. My resting HR throughout the day is also lower and softer.

It sucks because I’m hungry all day but the benefit of my heart being much calmer is so nice. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any thoughts? Is this one of the benefits people have in mind when they talk about intermittent fasting?

Can I get some help figuring out what exactly my target savings needs to be please.

I need to save a pot to provide my partner with an income of 20k per year, potentially for 40 years or more.

How much do I need saved to do that? How would you go about that starting from where I am?

My starting point is that we have 140k cash we can invest (80k in ISAs, 30k in a SIPP I have access to due to ill health, and 30k cash to be moved into ISAs), and approx £2000 per month we can add to investments.

What would you do and what do I need to know?

I’m hesitant to just yolo 110k into the market at historic high P/E ratios and will be trickling the money in. If I miss out some gains, so be it. The price for peace of mind.

Once the target is achieved, what do I do; leave it invested, concert to cash, etc? Anything else I need to know?
