Lighting with OMW

I wanted to ask what are my options to affect lighting when using OpenMW? I've seen some videos with insane lighting, super dark tombs, where light source is a must. The vanilla lighting usually is well lighted environment, where you can't really see any shadows. Can i do something about this?

Also, do you think it would be fitting to the lore, that tombs wouldn't have actually any lighted torches? That could be also one nice immersion change.

Lastly, are you running enb or reshades with this game?

Mod development with TES3

Just wanted to ask what is the best tool for example to create patches? I've used TES3View, but with that i can't do patches, i created some script, which allows me use that to check conflicts xD. I was stupid enough not start using mo2 with OpenMW. Live and learn.

Any suggestions? I'm pretty good with Creation Kit and SSEEdit so i think i can learn the tools quite quickly.

My first piece of loot

Haven’t really found any good loot until now 😂. Was just strolling near Sayda Neen and stumbled upon this. Thats a keeper or is it laughable item for old players? 😄

Same place had this weird pearl, which when picked up brought some text. I wonder can it be used somehow, was so excited about the loot so I didn’t read it on spot.

Process of creating new list

So I’m fantasizing about making new list. I wanted to ask has anybody done it in this way.

When building new list you would only install maybe some base texture set, and then concentrate to qol mods and fine tuning mechanics and don’t touch the towns or content at all. Make it run smooth with all your favorite mechanics. Kind of polished vanilla.

Then do backup, and this could act as your starting point for any playthrough. Even though creating from scratch is always better. So this wouldn’t have any combat mods or animations but some essential skse mods like skip dialogue or lockpick don’t open.

Second thought, anyone use auto install lists to do kind of similar thing, although I have almost feeling I should create my own, since mods are so personal choices.

I have made bunch of lists it kind of wants me to do my next one super slowly and well documented really nail and tackle every tiny conflict with proper effort.

Usually my lists start like this but at some point they explode and then perfectionist control disappears 😂

If you maintain list id love hear your tips how to keep it sane.

Perfect Morrowind First Time Player Experience

So, i got this Mage Guild quest, where i need to go to Punabi. It was quite far for first timer, so i walked and avoided scary enemies with my invicibility potions like a pro.

I happen to find the place, and then ended up killing everybody after i find out the npc said i should pay his debts. Anyway, i'm closing the last door in the cave.

I open the door, mage casts something that i can't move, then summors greater bonewalker, by chugging health potions and my sturdy silver short sword (i'm playing my own night blade class, although i don't have a clue how to use magic to my benefit yet).

I succesfully kill the mage. Then i open my inventory, strength: 0, endurance: 0. I go through everything i have in my inventory, but there's nothing to help me. Great! This was good lesson, better than any loot xD

I had earlier cast Mark in the Punabi, so i load earlier save (thank god i had one) and return to Balmora. Then i spent quite a lot time to find someone who sells restore strength spell. Then i craft myself Restore Strength and Endurance spells, 19-20pts, 1s duration, 1 mana usage :D

Lesson learnt! LETS GO!

Player house

I was reading about player houses and it seems players just kill some npc in Balmora and move in. I was thinking is there any proper player houses mods, which I could install on top of I love vanilla directors cut mod list. Even better if it’s not free.

Arkngthand

So I took this quest from Fighters Guild. Loved following journal figuring out, missed the rotating thing near entrance and ended up going around the mountain for an hour 😮‍💨

I wasn’t expecting this being so huge and also so much “friends” inside. It’s looking badly I need to come back 😆 I noticed I have Mark scroll, can I use it and then return in some way and once I’m in Balmora can I get Recall and get back easily?

One thing you find hard to mod

I’m not currently modding Skyrim, but I wanted to ask question.

I’ve created maybe over 15 lists myself, from scratch. I do love tweaking game to the death, but I’ve found dilemma, which usually is I’m not satisfied to some thing in my game, and this usually kills my motivation.

I might spend six months modding, but in the end I don’t end up playing the game. I’m fine with this since every time you do create list your skills get better.

However one thing I find hard is to make loot interesting, so we can add numerous mods adding weapons and armor but how to implement them in immersive way in the game is very hard. I hate crafting them or using mod or console to get them that’s just plain lazy.

So next time I start to mod, I will probably start figuring out this problem and can I solve it. Could be smart to peek some ready lists and see how they solved this.

What sucks in your mod list currently? 😄

Starting modding

So I’ve been modding quite a while, but never Morrowind, well once I did but I don’t recall a lot. I’ve created around 50 mods, so probably end up actually developing few mods in the process.

I take OpenMW is way to go? Is there any modding guide which would give me solid foundation, kind of set of core mods until I get lost with sea of mods :) I also want complete the game since I never did 😬 I probably want to first set of qol and ui mods in place and then figure out other stuff :)

Any feedback appreciated.
