How to drive a hybrid like I’m 5!

Hey Reddit! I recently bought a 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid and I’m still trying to understand how to actually drive it like a hybrid 😂

I understand the basic idea of how hybrids work, but I’m confused about how that translates into everyday driving.
My dashboard is constantly showing things like CHARGE → ECO → POWER, MPG, EV, and Eco Score, and sometimes I feel like I’m overthinking all of it.

A few questions:
Does the battery charge when I brake? How exactly does that work?
How should I use the CHARGE/ECO/POWER gauge to get better MPG?
Why do I sometimes get a low Eco Score and then suddenly get a really good score, even though I feel like I’m driving the same way?

What are the best driving habits for getting the most MPG?
And the EV button… when should I actually use it? I understand it forces the car to drive on electric for a short time, but how do I know when the car is ready for that?
Basically, I need someone to explain “how to drive a hybrid” like I’m 5 😂

I’m not looking for anything super technical. I just want to understand what I should actually DO while driving.

If you have a good YouTube video that explains the Corolla Cross Hybrid in really simple terms, please share it! 🙏

First impressions after joining CC fam!

Hi all,
I recently joined the family and am thrilled to share my experience with my new CC XSE in Cavalry blue. After patiently waiting for three weeks for the color and trim I desired, I finally received my car. To my delight, it offers a smoother ride than I had anticipated. The car’s quick turning and light feel make it enjoyable to drive, whether I’m driving around the city or cruising on the highway. It’s spacious enough to comfortably accommodate our small household of two and my small dog. I look forward to driving more around the city and finding parking more easily. While I traded in my CRV, which I enjoyed, it was more car than I needed. As a result, my monthly payments will be at least $100 less, and I will only add a couple of years to my loan term. And savings on insurance are a pleasant bonus. Overall, I’m incredibly happy with my new CC XSE!

Double shot!?!

Hi all,
I was taking Zepbound 5mg (out of pocket on Ro) before visiting my doctor. She then prescribed Mounjaro. However, she started me on 2.5mg just in case my insurance denied me for starting at 5mg. So, I received four 2.5mg injections. My plan is to take two injections in one day to achieve a 5mg dose, similar to Zepbound. Starting this coming month I will start my 5mg of Mounjaro. What would you do? Should I inject both in the same site or in different sites?

Dog back seat covers?

Can you recommend back seat covers for the CC XSE that will help keep it clean and free from damage? Please share links and/or photos of options.

How to reconcile with spare tire situation?

Hi all,

For those who chose the 26’ CC Hybrid, how did you rationalize or reconcile with the fact that it doesn’t come with a spare tire? I recently made a deposit for an XSE, and I’m excited about it, but I must admit, I’m a bit nervous about the spare tire situation.

Are there any alternatives or ways to add one?

Cross Hybrid from CR-V?

Hello all,

I’m contemplating downgrading (size) and purchasing a 2026 Cross Hybrid XSE (the top trim) because I desire an affordable and fuel-efficient, fun, and smaller vehicle. However, I’m also apprehensive about extending my loan by trading in my gas-powered CR-V for a Cross Hybrid. Has anyone made this switch before? I’ve already paid two years on my 2024 CR-V EXL, and I know they can’t necessarily be compared as CR-V tend to be bigger and more expensive and more aligned to the RAV4. I’m curious to know if the potential cost savings in fuel and extending the loan term by three years with slightly lower payment (or only 1.5 if I keep making the same payments as of now) are justified. I also like the idea of a smaller car for easy parking in the city and my 35-40 min commute. Lastly, my trade-in value will create a 2K in positive equity.

Any thoughts are welcome!

Edited to add trim details, equity and commute time, in case that matters when giving your opinion.

Switching to Insurance

I recently submitted my request for the second month, and I’m curious if I’ll be offered the option to switch to insurance during the process. I haven’t been asked anything yet, but I’m wondering if they’ll ask after the provider prescribes the medication.

Med temperature?

Hello,
I recently received my pen and took my first dose today. My next dose is scheduled for next Saturday, and I’ll keep it in the fridge until then. Since I’ll be traveling the following week, I’m wondering if I can then keep it at room temperature after my second dose or should I decide whether to keep it in the fridge or leave it at room temperature since it’s been used for the first time? I hope my question makes sense.
Thank you in advance!

When should I be concerned?

Hi there, I recently joined a Ro membership and my Zepbound was prescribed June 2nd. The system shows that it’s still processing (yesterday and today), but I’m curious when I should be concerned. I’ve seen several messages here mentioning delays in processing and deliveries. Do you think I should be worried after day four, considering the processing window Ro provides is 1-4 days? Also, does the pen arrive within a day or two, or should I be concerned about the delivery time? I have a trip by the end of next week, so I’m hoping to receive my medication over the weekend or the beginning of next week.
