A. Remedial English Brothers

Just because Darnell recorded himself in his car doesn’t mean it needs to be shared here. Most of the time it’s a dude doing an unfunny skit , or a struggled take on a complex issue that lacks nuance. It’s low-effort bullshit.

B. The "Dear Black Men" Lectures

Then we have the clips from black women on TikTok who want to lecture us. These takes are incredibly tone-deaf and detached from the lives of black man. Why give oxygen to a message that most of us honestly don't give a fuck about?

C. Fixation on Gay Dudes

I'm all for rights, live and let live, but why does it feel like there’s a high amount of gay shit here? It’s like we can’t go a full day without a post that’s designed to spark a discussion about gender or sexuality. A week ago, some ugly dude posted a pic of himself in a wig. What the fuck am I supposed to do with that?

Note: this is not a defense of the Democratic Party.

What is proximity denial?

At its core, proximity denial is a logical fallacy that weaponizes personal identity to shut down a structural analysis. It takes this form:

  1. The Fallacy: Because I am a member of Group X (black people), I cannot be bigoted against Group X. And, by extension, any institution or movement (MAGA/Republican Party) that includes me cannot be bigoted against Group X.
  2. The Weaponization of "Lived Experience": It reverses the valid concept of lived experience. Instead of using one's personal identity to provide unique insight into a system of oppression, it's used to conceal that system entirely.
  3. The "Expert" Inversion: It creates a perverse hierarchy of expertise. Suddenly, a person with no training in history, sociology, or law is declared an unparalleled expert on racism simply because of their skin color or identity, but only if their conclusion is that racism no longer exists.
