Do you guys remember Batang X and Batang Z?

I used to be OBSESSED over Batang X (1995) to the point na nagroroleplay kami ng mga kapitbahay lmao. Gamit namin flashlight tsaka empty tube ng pringles or piknik tapos nagbabaril-barilan. Sino kayo jan? Ako si Kidlat lol. Yun yata dahilan kaya nagustuhan ko rin X-Men. It's literally X-Men with kids.

Yung Batang Z (1996) naman pinanood ko pero nasa isip ko lang ay si Zorro at si Ceddie.

Atin-Atin Lang: Free Kindle books (The Completionist Chronicles Books 1-13 by Dakota Krout)

For those who want free books, Books 1-13 of The Completionist Chronicles by Dakota Krout are free right now on Amazon. This is not a self-promotion and I am not an affiliate at all. Just found out about it because the author just released Book 14 and baka may mahilig din magbasa ng LitRPG books like me!

If you're unfamiliar with what LitRPGs are, they're basically books with role-playing game elements like stats, skills, levels etc. I personally only read the first book so this is heaven-sent lol.

Just finished reading Chrysalis: The Antventure Begins by RinoZ 🐜🐜🐜

I know I'm late to the party (wish I'd read it sooner!), but I might as well share my thoughts about it before I go for book 2. Listened to the audiobook while reading the book for this one, and just want to say right now that Jeff Hays and Annie Ellicott both did a great job!

It's my first time reading a monster evolution LitRPG, and I gotta say I had a fun time with it. Coming from reading The Primal Hunter, Chrysalis felt like an absolute breath of fresh air. I loved that there aren't stat blocks and long-ass descriptions every other chapter. The protagonist, Anthony, doesn't really discuss every single description of an evolution or upgrade in agonizing detail, only briefly mentions or summarizes them, and focuses more on what he actually intends to choose. In contrast, while I liked the level of detail at first, Jake from The Primal Hunter tends to blather on about every description and detail of skills and classes he won't even pick, which, in my opinion, really got old fast. Not really a direct comparison between the two series tho!

As for worldbuilding, the concept of the Dungeon and the Wave was interesting. Rather than the usual dungeon diving with hunters or the awakened, the dungeon is just there, having sprung into existence long ago. It poses a threat to Pangera as it churns out waves of monsters from time to time, with the duty of guarding and managing it falling to the Legion which constantly clash with the Mercenaries. It's also a really cool touch that the System is well-known to everyone (even the monsters), like it's some sort of natural thing. Heck, there's even an established religion that worships it! And they also mentioned that >!there have been other people reincarnated in Pangera as monsters just like Anthony!<, so I'm interested in learning more about that.

I can see now why a lot of folks liked the book. Reading about Anthony's progress from a hatchling to a full-fledged adult worker ant (>!Mind Ant at the end of the book!<) is so satisfying. From the get-go, Anthony had to plan his way around defeating an enemy and acquiring levels/biomass, and I liked that he's not a dumb protagonist. He's goofy, yes, but not stupid. That being said, he is not perfect. There were two occasions where I just couldn't help but facepalm at how reckless he was, endangering the colony due to his antics which made me a bit anxious.

I went in expecting something akin to Disney Pixar's A Bug's Life, so I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't really like that. I was really looking forward to some interactions within the colony, so I was a bit bummed that >!the only other beings Anthony can converse with are the Queen (via pheromones) and, eventually, Tiny (via pet communication) and the Sophos. I thought there would be more ants he could speak with!!< And speaking of Tiny, I'm sorry to say that I was mildly annoyed with him for the majority of the book. I only started warming up to him in the latter parts when he finally stopped being a useless freeloader and actually started contributing lmao.

Honestly, after a time, reading solely about Anthony's inner monologue became a little tiresome for me, so I appreciated the parts where the POV shifted to other characters. I just wish there had been more of those!

I also found myself wishing there was more detail about Anthony's background when he was still a human. How exactly did he die? The book mentions he wasn't sociable and had poor relations with his family, but it felt glossed over. I assume this will be expanded on in the sequels, and I understand that it's not really the focus of the story, but it left me wanting more context.

Jeff Hays' audiobook performance was amazing in this one, though I initially felt like he overdid it with Anthony's silly narration before I eventually got used to it. I was surprised to learn Anthony was supposed to be 15 years old prior to his reincarnation, because Jeff’s performance did not give off the impression of a teenager (more like a silly guy in his mid-twenties). I'm also still not entirely sure if Jeff was going for a British or an Australian accent for Anthony! That being said, his vocal range is phenomenal, and I loved how distinct he made all the other characters sound from each other with ease. Also, he literally breaks the fourth wall every time he's about to read a stat block, telling the listener to press the skip button a few times if they don't care or don't want to hear about it. Not sure if any other LitRPG audiobooks do this (granted, I haven't listened to a lot).

Overall, it's a really great start to the series, and I'm definitely excited to read more. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid monster evolution LitRPG.

TL;DR: I just finished reading Chrysalis book 1 and enjoyed it. You should read it too if you haven't already. For the colony!

What are your thoughts on Wizard Confidential?

It's the newest release from CoG by Anthony Eichenlaub. It just feels like this one is getting slept on as I haven't seen much enthusiasm about it in the forum nor here on the subreddit.

Personally, I found the premise of being a wizard in the prohibition era quite cool and charming. I was hooked just from reading the demo and I really liked the whole vibe of it. I know it just came out so it's possible not many have had the chance to play it yet, but for those who did... what did you think about it?

Is this a form of scam using GCash?

Hi guys. Bigla akong may natanggap na message from GCash for an OTP to link my device raw. Thing is, I never did anything to warrant getting an OTP at all. So sabi ko ignore ko na lang like the message said since it wasn't me. But not even a minute later, I received another message with the same OTP pero may nakalagay sa above na "Sending with GOMO."

What the heck? Does that mean naforward yun sa whoever is trying to link my GCash account sa device nila because it was sent to them with my GOMO number? Has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't clicked anything suspicious at all. I have not downloaded nor installed anything either. Buti na lang wala akong GCash account na lmfao. My old GCash account (registered to my Smart sim) has been locked kasi nawala yung phone na linked dun 3 years ago and I never cared enough to appeal it (I managed to keep the sim card tho). But now I have a GOMO sim and hindi sya ang default sim for messages, but I'm still really concerned about that "Sending with GOMO" thing. Also worried this could happen to my parents na seniors na, especially if automatic nafoforward yung OTP.

Tama ba yung naiisip ko or nag ooverthink lang? Sorry, I'm just confused. Am I just dumb?
