Nor did she oversee his cleaning or tell him what to do. It's great he's having autonomy over his own space and he's also learning accountability, despite living at home with his family. I think many moms would have felt compelled to do the cleaning for their son or made sure it's done "right". He and Hailey had a good (if not a bit blunt haha) conversation about the subject, and it's good that these situations are met early on in a relationship :)
