Kit bash time!!!

Kit bash time!!!

I’m in the mood for a winged daemon prince, to make it closer to a hypothetical list I have. However, I don’t like the model that much (it is definitely cool, but it doesn’t fit the more mechanical and tanky vibe of my army as a whole). I’ve decided I’m going to make a kitbash with a Saturnine Praetor as the base model, and ordering the 60mm base off eBay or smth else.

That being said: What do my brothers of the IVth offer in regards to good kit bashing pieces for a winged prince?

Is it comin back?

My first ever Warhammer models were the ones right out of the IW Combat Patrol. The upgrade sprue was especially cool. I loved that kit a lot, and I still use pretty much all of it on tabletop. So I gotta ask, are we getting it back, or at least the upgrade sprue?

Upgrades People, Upgrades!

TIL how to do a heat effect from a friend and tested it on my first terminator champ (first image). He’s the very first mini I ever built and he needed a redo on his paint. I started with his sword and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I’m looking forward to doing it again. Feed back is appreciated!

First true Kitbash!

Still a WIP, but here’s an Abaddon model as my warband’s lord! Formerly a Warpsmith (but still their warlord), he was nearly killed by a surprise attack from a blood angels successor chapter master in a carefully constructed ambush (These blood angel successors are the homebrew chapter of a guy from my playgroup). He was rescued by his most loyal friend and lieutenant, and was barely saved from becoming a dreadnought/helbrute by his fellow warpsmith and dear friend, who designed a custom suit of terminator armor to house his body. (Yes, I got inspiration from gorilla man)

Warp Headaches

I’m trying desperately to put together a 2k Warpstrike Champions/Cabal of Chaos list but I can’t figure out how exactly to fill the list. This is a “for fun” list, but I at least want to have something cohesive. My biggest questions are these:

  1. How many terminators can I get away with? This is the most important.

  2. Can I also get away with running mutilators?

  3. What other units are the best support for a warpstrike list?

The Codex of Iron

I’ve recently been seeing a bunch of people asking when/if Iron Warriors will ever get a standalone codex. That’s prompted me to come up with this fun little discussion question:

Let’s say we did get our own codex. What are some unique units, army rules, or new mechanics that you guys would want to see out of it?

Looking to play Custodes!

I’m relatively brand new to Warhammer on the tabletop, and I absolutely adore the banana boys in the lore, so I figured I’d enjoy them on the tabletop too. One problem, I am *completely* unfamiliar with their tabletop army. I’m currently in the middle of scouting out units that I’d like to have, and I’m about to go off on the video-essay adventure to get my bearings. I’d love to hear from everybody about what to look out for.

Maulerfiends vs Forgefiends

When I started building my CSM, I thought I wanted to build a totally thematic army and just have fun with it. Well now that I’m knees deep in the tabletop, I love it, and I wanna win. Army-wise I’m at the point where I’m looking at daemon engines to buy, and I’ve heard a lot about Forgefiends being great picks, but not so much about Maulerfiends. I gotta ask, is the shooting profile that much better than the melee one? Or should I just pick up both and go bananas

G U N

So most of us have probably heard about that one time the shovel boys threw so many fucking arty shells at a hive city that they leveled it in ten years. I would like to achieve something similar with a shit ton of big guns. Do we have something to replicate that feeling on the tabletop?

New bug, fresh out of the reclamation pools!

Hello fellow members of the hivemind! I’ve been freshly absorbed to the Tyranid of hordes, and I wanted to know what I could add to an idea of an army that, so far, contains

1 Tyrannofex
3 Zoanthropes
1 Neurotyrant
1 Old One-eye
2 Carnifexes

Detachment suggestions are super appreciated!

Raptors vs Talons

So I’m in the final stages of building out my first army, and these are my latest additions. I plan to run them in a brick of 10 regardless of which one I take, but which should I use if I want them to really *stay* on an objective? Does the extra shooting make that the raptors get make enough of a difference that the Talons’ better melee doesn’t matter, or does the Talons’ 5++ and uppy-downy shenanigans justify the lack of guns?

Why does it seem like everyone says aircraft are bad?

So I’m a 40K noob and have a lot of interactions with actual veterans and military personnel, as well as taking vested interests in military vehicles (rockin with the ‘tism if you couldn’t already tell lmao). So one of my first thoughts when I began to get interested in 40k tabletop was quite obviously “air superiority = very good.” Seemed like a tactically sound idea. But imagine my surprise when I start asking a few of the more experienced players at my LGS and they all tell me that aircraft in this game are bad. I couldn’t help but think that’s ridiculous, and after looking at the rules I can’t find anything particularly bad about them. They’re the fastest things in the game, they mostly have good shooting profiles, and many can even transport infantry. So what’s the deal????

Edit: I see the issue. Here’s hoping that 11th will actually fix it 🍻

Iron warriors Siege Army

So I’m just starting 40k and my first pick for an army is Iron Warriors. Yk, big guns, grinding attrition tactics, vehicles/daemon engines, the works. So now I’m looking through CSM units and detachments left and right, but I’m not quite sure on how exactly I want to run it to be both strong on the tabletop and have a deep Iron Warriors feeling. On the detachments hand, I could go full meta and run PBZ or RR, but on the other side of it, something like Fellhammer-Siege Host is technically worse but much more thematically appropriate (personally I think it just flat out IS the most appropriate). On the actual units hand, Kravek Morne was a no brainer pick as Warlord (The image speaks for itself), and at least 1 defiler (if I ever get one lol) and two forgefiends kinda has me set on daemon engines. Infantry/Vehicles is less clear though. Obviously Rhinos because I’m probably sticking with two bricks of ten legionnaires, but what about actual tanks or bikers? Do I take two or three vindicators for maximum firepower or specialize with the two predator variants? Are bikers even worth the space if I plan on Rhinos and/or Raptors? So many questions, need suggestions.

u/mothUnsettler — 4 months ago

So I’m planning on running vindicators as my main tank, and this rule confuses me. I was under the impression that models can’t be within engagement range unless charging into it, at which point they enter melee combat, during which you cannot shoot. So does this rule ignore that one, or is my understanding wrong? Or does that only apply to infantry?

So I’m a new player to tabletop, and I chose Chaos Space Marines for my first army. My group has a big apocalypse-esque game coming up in June, and they invited me to join. One of our guys is a pretty competitive army builder. This person has a necron list, so I was wondering what I could best use to counter necrons effectively, as well as just a general use CSM army.
