I built all my guards as sworard and board (i thought they looked cooler) but in my games they always felt like they havnt been great, in my recent games ive been proxy ing them as spears and i havnt noticed the difference between 3 & 4 wounds but have definitely felt the double damage and my guards feel like theyve been unleashed and j stomping anything not a vechile , is there any start where the shield & sword is good, cause coming to the table and being like “yeah these 4 squads are all gonna be spears” gets a little embarrassing

I find the army a bit boring with some often the rules like the martial ktah rule and the very static march up and fight gameplay. How can I make the army actually flavorful and fun while still keeping functionality. This is what i usually run which while effective is just bland

Anyone remember how long it took till individual kits came out for our previous battlebox? The new one looks cool but I’d rather have 2 telemon for the same price as the box

Hi all, so I’ve been a long term enjoyer of 40k via the Black Library, but have finally taken the plunge into actually building an army.

I’m currently targeting a 1000 point army to get me going and I have the below:

Trajan Valorus with his axe

1 blade champion

3 custodians with spears, 1 shield captain with a spear and shield & 1 vexila with a shield.

5 wardens with spears

3 allarus with spears.

I am not too worried about having a competition winning squad, more something that is lore consistent and just looks good.

May I have the fraters thoughts?

Hello everyone, I'm pretty new to the hobby, with one AoS spearhead and a few other minis painted. Currently, I want to build my first proper, 2k army. Since I'm still learning how to paint well, I don't want any challenging or huge armies like CSM or Astra Militarum. Custodes look very promising, but I know they are going through a lot of model range changes recently, most worrying for me being new Custodian Guard from Legio Custodes. Also, I don't want to much inconsistency between my models. So, is it a good idea to start AC army now, or maybe it's better to wait a few months for updated combat patrol with new Guards and maybe Wardens too, since CP is the best box to start with?
