The regular Defiler kit doesn't really fit with the look of my army(and I could also never find one actually on sale), so I went for a kitbash based around the Saturnine dreadnought. I was shocked how well those rounded chaos spike pieces for the shoulders, same with the loin cloth. Almost like it was meant to be...

Finally done! Painting this was a blast, especially because I got to use a bunch of new rust/wethering effects, plus I managed to give the metal the rough look i wanted

Hello brothers, I'm starting my second ever army and chose an Iron Warriors / Dark mechanicum style demon engine list. Currently working on a color scheme so I know what colors to buy. I'm running 20 tech thralls als cultist proxies and I'm curios if this darker theme still reads as IW color scheme.
This project will be massive cause I never painted chaos, yet I want the whole army to be NMM. Thoughts?
I used a mix of parts for this, including a havoc helmet and a venerable dreadnought flamer under the fist.

Has anyone used the grey knight heavy weapon sprues to kitbash heavy bolters or other weapons. I have the old grey knights/1kSons hexfire box and I was looking at the purifiers sprue. I would have to shave of some symbols, but other than that it might work.
I’m in the mood for a winged daemon prince, to make it closer to a hypothetical list I have. However, I don’t like the model that much (it is definitely cool, but it doesn’t fit the more mechanical and tanky vibe of my army as a whole). I’ve decided I’m going to make a kitbash with a Saturnine Praetor as the base model, and ordering the 60mm base off eBay or smth else.
That being said: What do my brothers of the IVth offer in regards to good kit bashing pieces for a winged prince?

Heyo!! Done a bit of improvement touch up work on my favourite daemon engine (the stripes, the bone and the base specifically) and wanted to share now that the whole army is going up - Now as part of the overall Ironflesh Gauntlet rather than the Daemon Engine war pack it originally was as ‘The Creeping Ruin’
Defo sticking with the lore of this originally being a Lord Discordant’s mount that ate him (the lil skull in the flesh tube being his skull) bc thats just delightful to imagine lol // I think it’d be fun to do a Vashtorr some day but I think i’ve got enough on my hobby plate for now and I think he’s such a big named figure in my head I’d want to kitbash him extensively so we shall see

I had a random extra havoc body, no clue why. But I looked at him and had a vision immediately of what I wanted to do with him. Queue a few weeks of getting parts, building, and painting... and now I have a special raptor lord. I still have no clue wtf to do for the base. Parts are havoc body (torso+legs), new(!!) raptor set two handed chainaxe and jump pack, replacement chainaxe head from the world eaters eightbound, IW upgrade shoulder + random csm spikey shoulder, and maloghurt's head.
Hazard stripes are eyeballed and freehanded, I don't use tape. I take a mechanical pencil and sorta sketch what I think and then paint them, then wash and chip them.
Hope you like him! If you have a basing idea feel free to let me know. I'm kinda just lazy about it right now and am between just a basic onenwith the brown dirt and some bits scattered around like my other IW, or doing something else. 99% going with a 40mm base size.
