Heyo!! Glad to finally share all these guys grouped up together! Forgive th simpler terrain set up, i dont quite have all the graveyard fancy terrain and background blocking to go for full immersion but I wanted to at least get them all on a board to share with y’all!!

Custodes was army that took me a long while to get right - for a long time I thought it was the mourning element of the Custodes I found the most interesting however after examining it further and reading up on it further, I realised I quite liked the element of ‘relic of a bygone age’ - specifically, much for the same reason i like knights, a pre-imperial age; A lot of my inspiration came from fan arts of the Custodes pictures during the unification wars where they have no yet built up all the pomp and circumstances - which is what I was trying to capture in the desaturated colour pallette and im very happy with how it came out, especially in the Dreadnought Talon and the Allarus squadron

Outside of the Custodes, Im immensely happy with how the Anathema Psykana came out - they were the foundation of my custodes collection and Aleya’s audiobook sections cemented them as one of my favourite factions; even ending up with me playing a sister of silence-inspired character in a friend’s long term dnd campaign thats just finished! Im planning to share her kitbashed model soon, once I’ve finished making it’s Custodes counterpart to represent my friend’s chadacter from that same campaign - planning to have them in my collection as Aleya and Velarion proxies!

Apologies for the low level quality on the photos and unfinished terrain but very happy to finally share of the 164th Grand Battalion collection all together! They were a big project for me, from the delight of mass building heresy kits, to kitbashing legionary models to be unique with helmets or loadouts, to batch batch BATCH painting or doing more decals than I have on any project since lol

These guys were originally meant to all be for my 40K Iron Warriors but I like them as their own collection and whilst well get to the Chaos Warband of 40K for my Iron Warriors, Im glad to be able to give these guys a lil space in the Horus Heresy as loyalists whilst still leaving room for how the modern warband came to be out of the Junos system which I will start posting later!

I still need to refresh some of the infantry shazard stripes then get decals on everything but as it’s a much more daemon engine force than infantry, I don’t think that’ll take too terribly long

Heyo!! Just wanted to share in the wake of 11th I’ve tweaked this army a bit - shifting some cultists to accompany my chaos knights and repainting some of my legionaries from Iron Warriors to the Black Legion!!

This also worked very nicely in rounding out the 1k to include the current combat patrol all in one colour scheme! Customised Master of Possession, 2x5 Legionaries, 5 Possessed and 10 Cultists from the 25mm bodies in the Accursed Cultists set!

Im super happy with how they come out all together and serve as a nice contrast of the much more possessed soldiers counterpart to my more mechanised warfare/daemon engine iron warriors army (the legionary witu the fire blade might genuinely be one of my fave recently painted minis, it came out SO nicely)

Heyo all! Just wanted to share a WIP of my most recent House Khaul/Imperial Knight forces, witu this lovely thing! I adore the pose and the mace head kitbash but the paint scheme is stumping me a bit - My intent is to fill the bone/parchment sections with medieval style manuscript paintings

HOWEVER! Im unsure if Im missing the mark with something?? I put the strong twin colours of the house down the middle so itd fit better with the rest of the army but it is my hope to make it look a bit more visiually distinct a Freeblade (see comparison in last pic)

Heyo!! Very glad to finally be sharing this bulk of my custodes models as I absolutely ADORE the Castellan axe so to have gotten the initial warden set and then be able to kitbash the new Heresy ones witu leftover arms from the Sagittarum worked out SO nicely!!

I feel like the colour schemes, especially on the newer models, worked REALLY well on these guys and im super duper pleased with how they came out - I think I may have missed a few gems on some of the older ones but im content to just go for back for them at some later point

Heyo!! Kitbashed this guy a while ago from a scavenged Reaver and am super happy with how it looks! I think there’s more that can be done here witu decals and heraldry but at least for now Im super happy how the more chaosified/corrupted kitbash came out in conjunction with the colour pallette

Heyo!! So, some of you might have seen this gal before but im super glad to be sharing her once more after she’s had a lil bit of a glow up!! She was the start of my test scheme on this refresh of having the Sisters of Silence be primary black and accents of gold and WOW Im happy with how she came out

Im playing a dnd chadacter based on a mix between Apollyon from For Honour and the sisters of silence so it was really fun to get that Apollyon reference in on here - She’s definitely one of my favourite chadacter models I’ve ever kitbashed and I’d be lying if I said I wander tempted to seek out the other pose of this Soulblight Gravelords chadacter to give her an alt pose ehich if I recall the model correctly would be a lot more mid action

One theme i really love about the custodians and the sisters of silence working together is how radically different they are but how perfectly complimentary they are - Both on the practical level of the Sisters covering the ‘No psyker custodians’ issue but also on the thematic parallel level of “We are humans who have been entirely disconnected from humanity - Either by being turned into the theoretical peak of what we can become or by being born with the absence of something so fundamental as a soul” - like they’re such different causes but the fact they can find equals in eachother bc they aren’t intimidated by each others inhumanity is really narratively compelling to me (NO Im totally not a super fan of Valerian and Aleya’s dynamic shush)

I say all this bc having pairs of specifics custodians paired in my army with specific anathemas is a really fun excercise for me, especially with the chadacters - so for instance my Knight Centura here with her Executioner Blade is paired with my Custodian Blade Champion (That model will be shared in future cuz they went on a bit of a journey lol) as well as my lil sniper duo i shared the other day!

This was quite the lil fun one! Sister of Silence model is based off the knight you could get in the Cursed City box - Used the one from my set as the basis for a dnd character mini so I bought a single of it off ebay thinking to build it proper but then I was reading through the Anathema Psykanna rules for Horus Heresy and MAN I forgot how many sick units there are. What came to me then was the idea for a sort of Sanctioner, but rather than having a full unit like they would’ve had in the Heresy, treat this as a much smaller and isolated role so she acts as lone hunter.

I kinda mucked up and gave her a regular bolt rifle when usually they should have proper bolter sniper rifles but the sleeker look felt more realistic and like a nice contrast to the larger than life weapons of the Custodes. I originally intended to run her as a Boltgun Knight Centura but after consideration, I think she makes a nice enough Vindicare proxy for this lil collection I’ve got goin on! I’m sper happy with how the highlighted black armour and weapon casing came out overall, feels like the conversion fits nicely!

I bought a pack of the 6 custodian bodies from the new Horus Heresy for my Wardens and once I’d made the 5, I wanted to do something a bit different with the sixth - It sat in the bits box, half built for a while before I remembered the blood games and realised an assassin type custodian could be fun to kitbash! I went for the sniper due to it’s iconic nature and as a means of making it stand out. Mechanically, I’d planned to use them as a Shield Captain to accompany my Saggitarum, adding a custom Bolt-Cavalier esque profile to play amongst friends (Hence, as you will have noticed, the spike on the top of his helm rather than the customary plume - it matched the siggitarum better.

My intent for the custodes in this Talons army is to have them be an Eyes of the Emperor force, now hearing from the new codex that Eyes can be permitted to keep their arms and armour (I’d thought about it last edition but the prospect of having to kitbash all their armour from scratch was always too daunting lol) - We will expand on their lore, how it intersects with tehh Vigil of Hallow-3 and how it helps to make up the Carrion Watch when we get through the anathema psykana units first!)
