I'm starting an undergraduate Mathematics degree in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode and need to pick up a dedicated device during the upcoming Big Billion Days (BBD) / Great Indian Festival sale. My budget is loosely capped at ₹35,000.
My Usage Requirements
Primary Tasks: Heavy PDF viewing/annotation (math textbooks, problem sets), writing down mathematical equations and graphs with a stylus, attending Zoom live lectures, and stream watching YouTube tutorials.
Workflow Needs: Seamless file transfers to PC, good battery life for multi-hour study sessions, and comfortable split-screen multitasking (lectures on one side, notes on the other).

How long does document verification typically take during this admission cycle before an Enrollment Number is generated?

Return of Evaluated TMAs (Assignments): IGNOU guidelines mention that evaluated Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) should be returned to students with tutor comments. What has been your actual experience at your study centre (especially at Maulana Azad LSC 2810)? Do students usually get physical copies back, or do you just see the uploaded marks on the Grade Card?
Pre-Admission Counseling: Does IGNOU or RC Kolkata / LSC 2810 hold any pre-admission or orientation counseling sessions to help new applicants understand course choices, FYUP credit options, or portal navigation before/during registration?
7th and 8th Semester Syllabus (FYUP 4-Year Structure): Under the 4-year FYUP framework, BSCFMT allows students to opt for an Honours degree (160 credits across 8 semesters). However, the portal only displays details up to the 6th semester. Why hasn't IGNOU published the full 7th and 8th semester syllabi/course codes yet? Do they release these as the initial FYUP cohorts advance?
Connecting with BSCFMT Students: Are there any seniors or fellow batchmates enrolled in BSCFMT? How are you structuring your study plan, and are there any specific WhatsApp/Telegram/Discord groups for IGNOU Math majors?
Experience with Maulana Azad College (LSC 2810) & Kolkata RC (28): For anyone affiliated with LSC 2810 (Maulana Azad) or RC Kolkata, how responsive is the administrative counter during weekend hours? How smoothly are assignment hand-ins and practicals handled there?

Minors & Vocational Course Choices: Under the BScFMT structure, the vocational and skill enhancement courses look a bit overwhelming/scattered. For someone aiming for MScMACS later, what vocational courses (like Data Analysis) or minors do you recommend to keep the momentum going?
Study Centre Recommendations: Which Learner Support Centres (LSCs) in Kolkata are best managed for science/math streams? I’m looking for a smooth experience regarding practical schedules, responsive coordinators, and timely updates. Is moulana azad or bhairab gunguly college a good fit for this specific track?
Assignment Submissions: Does RC Kolkata / specific study centres currently accept online submissions (via Google Forms/Portals), or is it strictly physical submission on weekends now?

Trading and investing platform Dhan on Friday launched investment access to US-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for Indian investors through the GIFT City framework.
The offering is being provided through Raise IFSC Private Limited, Dhan's wholly-owned subsidiary and a member of India INX operating under the regulatory framework of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).
In a statement, the company said Indian investors can now invest in stocks listed on the Nasdaq and NYSE through the Dhan app under a structure aligned with RBI and FEMA requirements.
Dhan has partnered with ViewTrade for brokerage services and GlomoPay for payment technology services to facilitate investments in US securities.
The platform will not charge account maintenance or custody fees, while brokerage has been fixed at 0.25 per cent of the transaction value.
Investors will also have access to features, such as systematic investment plans (SIPs) in US stocks and ETFs, super orders, and portfolio tracking tools.
"We are excited about presenting Dhan investors the opportunity to invest in global companies and brands that shape our daily lives. Investing internationally in US stocks had lacked clarity and direction until recent times. Dhan solves the same for Indian investors by offering US investing via the IFSC GIFT City route," Dhan founder and CEO Pravin Jadhav said.
According to the company, the US market offers investment opportunities across sectors, such as technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, healthcare and consumer businesses, along with globally tracked ETFs.
Trading in derivatives will not be permitted at this stage, it added.
Dhan said fund transfers have been integrated with leading Indian banks to enable compliant movement of money into investors' US investment accounts, with additional banking partnerships expected over time.
Dividend income from US investments will be subject to withholding tax under the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) framework, and capital gains will be taxed in accordance with Indian tax regulations, the company said.
