Has anyone come up with a way to unlock hard drives when the original EEPROM is inaccessible?

I feel like the protection shouldn't be too hard to break on today's PCs. Even though the use of such a tool would be niche, I bet this could help a few people out and maybe even get some lost DLC archived.

EDIT: Turns out they have. PrometheOS is a tool that can do this.

EDIT2: PrometheOS is a modchip OS, as I discovered. Should've clarified further that I was thinking of a PC-based tool, but it looks like FATXplorer has that covered for WD drives.

For Seagates, you have to get a USB to TTL adapter, hook it up to some pins on the drive, and run some commands in PuTTY to get the password, as outlined here: https://consolemods.org/wiki/Xbox:Drive_Locking#Service/Technician_mode_unlocking

Has anyone compiled a list of OG Xbox first person shooters that allow you to play against bots in splitscreen?

Off the top of my head I can name:

  • Timesplitters 2
  • Timesplitters: Future Perfect
  • 007: Nightfire
  • XIII

I'm sure there's more. I wouldn't be surprised if the Unreal Championship games allowed for this, but I don't know for sure. I don't remember if 007: Agent Under Fire has them or not, but I have a feeling it doesn't.

I posted about this a few minutes ago, but Reddit doesn't let you retitle your posts, and I wanted to specify OG Xbox so that users who aren't paying attention to what sub they're on don't start posting 360/One/Series titles.

EDIT: I'm gonna expand this to include third-person shooters too. The Battlefront games seem pretty popular, and Conker's Live & Reloaded has been cited as an example as well.

Can you prevent emulated keyboard/mouse inputs on controller from conflicting with controller inputs when a game is launched in desktop mode?

I have a custom controller layout set up in desktop mode that allows me to control the mouse cursor with my controller, and I also have a few keys set up for keyboard inputs; namely arrow keys on the d-pad and enter on start.

I honestly spend a lot more time in desktop mode than game mode, and I'd like to be able to launch my games from there without triggering unintentional inputs. Is Steam Input smart enough to prevent this, or do I have to do something else to stop this?

If it makes any difference, I'm using a Gamesir Nova 2 Lite. I'm also using KDE.

Allow post titles to differ from their URLs, so that people can retitle their posts. Also provide an edit history for post titles, and clearly mark them for transparency's sake.

I understand one of the reasons Reddit doesn't allow people to retitle their posts is because they don't want to break people's links.

With that in mind, I think people should be able to edit the titles of their posts, without changing the underlying URL.

Another concern is that people might change a post's title in order to bait people into voting on it before they change it.

To mitigate this, I say posts with edited titles should be clearly marked, and an edit history should be provided, so that people can see what the post was titled as before.

Thoughts?

r/pihole is very, very, very downvote-happy to the point of being unusable. Where else can I ask questions about setting it up and using it?

I already have a basic setup working, so I don't need an installation tutorial, but I would like to learn how to use it with a VPN.
