If you liked Shroud, Alien Clay, Peter Watts's Blindsight, and John Carpenter's The Thing might I suggest: The Things
The Things is a short story from Peter Watts, author of Blindsight, that offers an alternate telling of the film the Thing from the perspective of the alien. (You need to watch the movie first.) It examines a lot of similar questions to Shroud and Alien Clay. Also reminiscent of Pluribus.
It's a quick read or listen, and is revered by many of the most purist fans of The Thing.
