M | 28 | Islamabad - Looking to stop playing hide and seek with my partner
Hey all. Been a silent lurker here but didn't really get to sharing my profile because the idea of putting myself to words has always been a bit challenging for me. I’ve now put some effort into writing up something that is reflective of who I am as a person in the hopes of attracting the right individual. I did try Muzz too and have found it severely lacking personality but nevertheless learned quite a bit on how to navigate this whole process in an efficient manner (I hate to go with the flow).
Height & Weight: 5'8" | 55 kg
Location: In the process of moving to Islamabad permanently with family in Q4 of this year
Residence: Living in a rented place - hope to build my own home in the future IA!
Education: BS in Computer Engineering (From one of top 3 unis in Pakistan) | MS in Computer Science (From one of top 30 unis in the United States)
Profession: Software Engineer at a US based company working remotely (WFH)
Marital Status: Single, never engaged
Family Details:
- Nuclear setup. I live with my parents. My sister is married. My parents did not pursue any form of formal education (Just basic, till the 12th grade) but have always prioritized education for both their kids. Now, AH, both of us are doing pretty well in our lives.
- I intend to keep living with my parents, as the only supporting son, after getting married. I’d like to get this point across very clearly from the get-go as this is a deal-breaker for many.
- Me, along with my parents, don’t have any traditional/desi mindset. I think, education, exposure and experience has taught my family quite a bit and we are against all things such as dowry, extravagant/show-off wedding functions, unfair expectations from the other family, and are quite lowkey, logical and grounded.
- My father ran his own business pretty much all his life and has now retired. My mom is a housewife but a very creative soul. She is super into DIY, gupshup and has a pretty jolly nature.
- I love cats and hence have a very important family member left to introduce, Lily. I love her with all my heart and my partner would need to be pet-friendly/accepting of her.
Religion:
- I’m not sure how to define this accurately, but, if I had to rate myself on a religious scale (lol) with 1 being not practicing at all and 10 being strictly religious, I’d rate myself a 6.
- I pray 2-3 times a day and do fast in Ramadan. (Trying to be better)
- I don’t have any religious expectations from my partner except from the bare minimum which is being a Muslim and having some khuda ka khauf (hehe).
Am I even ready?
Marriage was never really on my radar because life was, for a long time, about building myself from the ground up. I had to make my own name and grow—not just professionally and financially, but also in terms of my mindset and the person I wanted to become. I’m a self-made individual, and getting to a place where you feel genuinely settled in yourself takes time.
I also never wanted to get married simply because everyone around me was doing it. I wanted to understand what marriage actually demands beyond the wedding itself. I made a point of speaking to friends and cousins who have been married for years, because I believe those are the conversations that matter—the ones about partnership, compromise, communication, responsibility, and building a life together, rather than how many wedding functions to have or which photographer to hire.
And now, for the first time, I feel like I’m in a place where I’m ready to welcome someone into my life—not because I’m trying to catch up with anyone else, but because I genuinely want a partner to share my life with.
Who am I as a person?
- I highly value family, progressive-mindset, and education. I’m not just close to my own immediate family, but also my cousins who I grew up with. The mindset to always do better in life has been a common theme in our family and I think that came from education, hence, I value all of that deeply.
- I was extremely na-laik till 7th, and then something clicked in me and I have never looked back since then. I’d just say I’ve done pretty good academically since then and have always considered myself a hard worker rather than being talented or smart.
- Personality type: I’d definitely be introverted for someone I barely know and extroverted with people that I’m comfortable talking with. Depending on my mood, I’d either do brainrot conversations or deep meaningful conversations around life, relationships and occasional tea (lol). I can count my closest friends on just one hand and value quality over quantity.
- Values: I don’t smoke, vape or drink. In fact, I’m allergic to smoke as it causes me severe headaches and nausea.
- Hobbies: I’ve never had many hobbies growing up outside of playing video games. Bonus points if you are into that too and I’d be more than happy to get you a pink controller (hehe).
Factors That Could Make Me a Mismatch
- Flexibility on moving abroad: Although it is not on my radar right now, life can take you all unexpected places. Hence, I’d like my partner to be at least open to the idea of moving abroad in the future.
- Money management: I take this seriously as I feel like hard earned money should be valued, accounted for and spent wisely. When I think about my partner, I also think of them as a financial advisor/partner. Mismatch for those who spend recklessly.
What I’m Looking For:
- Someone who is educated (at least a bachelors), ambitious, smart and wants to join forces to grow as one in all realms of life, be it professionally, spiritually or financially.
- I’m open to both, someone who wants to work and someone who doesn’t want to and would like to stay at home. However, in the latter case, you should have hobbies to keep yourself busy because I do think being busy is very important or else your whole life starts revolving around your partner and that causes problems.
- Being physically attracted to my partner is super important for me but in addition to that I also value being intellectually compatible. If I can’t connect with your brain, physical attraction stops being meaningful to me. Vice versa is also true.
- Preferably someone who is the same age as me or at max 5 years younger because I feel beyond that is just a generational gap that is pretty hard to fill. That makes the age range between 23-28 but I’m not super strict on this and can figure out on a case-to-case basis.
- I think marriage in general takes a lot of effort to sustain. Which means making time for each other, valuing each other's likes/dislikes and in general compromising on some front for the greater good. I just can’t do auto-pilot and pray for the best and consider myself pretty intentional in this regard and would want my partner to reciprocate on this front as well.
- Open to living with my parents. Of course, I understand the privacy element of it and totally open on discussing boundaries to establish an atmosphere of mutual respect.
- Preferably someone in the Islamabad/Rawalpindi area so that we can meet in-person as well. I highly value meeting in-person since I think that gives you a better sense of chemistry than calling/texting. Open to talking to someone from other cities as well if we align on everything else.
Deal Breakers:
- Smoking, vaping, drinking or indulging in any such activity.
- Not open to living with in-laws.
- Not open to having children.
- Not open to relocating both to Islamabad (if out of city) or abroad (in future terms).
- Lack of good communication and conflict resolution skills.
- If you prefer to write “how r u?” instead of “How are you?” (lol)
- Not able to carry a conversation
Do You Want Children?
- Yes but not right away and with mutual consent/understanding.
Family Setup
- Nuclear.
Timeframe for Marriage
This is hard to nail down exactly since when two families are involved timelines do tend to vary for various reasons. However, I’d like to get married within the next year. Priority really is to find the right partner first, however long that takes since this is probably the most important decision of anyone’s life. That being said, I’m also not in favor of talking months on end with no direction whatsoever. I believe a month or two of intentional talking/meeting is enough to gauge compatibility given that you know what you’re looking for. After which I’d like to get families involved leading up to an engagement (if all goes well) with actual marriage timelines being agreed upon mutually.
P.S: I know this has been pretty long so if you took the time to read through it, I appreciate it. I like to put all my heart in anything that I see important so I only wanted to post once I felt like the words are doing justice to who I am and what I am looking for. If you like what you read and would like to talk more, you can DM me your detailed profile and we can take it from there. After our first session of talking, I’d like for us to exchange photos. My only ask would be to be intentional once we start talking and really put in the effort to assess compatibility. Cheers!
