Gallopoli?

Hi! I hope I found an appropriate sub to post this in.

During the Vietnam war era, my grandpa was stationed in Naples Italy for a time. He was given a recipe by the 2 ladies who he rented from.

He called it "Gallopoli". It is ground beef, shredded cabbage and onion all cooked down then drained. I imagine he put in salt and pepper and garlic. Then he made a dough circle, a scoop of filling was put in and the dough folded over into a half moon shape. He pinched the edges and brushed it with egg.

They got baked in the oven til the dough was done.

They were sooooo yummy. Simple. Sometimes we used the dough and put in pizza ingredients instead of cabbage filling.

As I've gotten older I have been trying to find the real name. A friend of mine suggested Runza? Also reminds me of Pastys.

Can anyone help? An Italian style pasty?

Abandoned

Why does it seem like the bulk or all of caregiving falls on one person? I have a sibling that lives on the same property as my mom and myself. I continually ask him to spell me, help with home maintenance for moms house, and he completely ignores me.

I just need a damn break. His wife could come sit with mom for an hour. She could help do some cleaning.

In the last month I've had to replace her well pump, sandpoint and well pipe, pressure tank. She had no running water and it was hell. I begged him to help. I paid for all the parts and had to hire a friend to do the work. Seriously! And my brother KNOWS how to do this stuff.

His answer? "He has to work".

HE OWNS A TATTOO SHOP! He could let his apprentice handle the desk and come fucking help me! He could come for an hour before work. I haven't seen him in nearly a month since he came and said "Yeah we need to put a new well in".

Has he helped financially? No. Has he been supportive? Also no.

I don't understand this. WHY am I being treated this way?

His son even made a comment the other day. "Why haven't you mowed the yard this year?" I said- I cannot leave grandma alone long enough to do it. If I can leave her alone, I am so tired I can't do it.

So I opened the gates and my sheep are eating the grass!

I just want help. I can't keep up. And it makes me so sad. I told my brother via text that for the last year I have been having increased instances of ideation and he ignored it. If your sister told you that wouldn't you say something?

I resent my mother

I resent her. I resent being 50 years old and being so exhausted from caring for her and attending to her every need and entertaining her and cleaning her house and making all her phone calls and bringing her to the doctor and spongebathing because she is afraid of the shower. I am resentful that my grocery budget is blown because she eats like a toddler and her comfort foods are really expensive processed pre packed food instead of the healthy meat and veggies I grow.

I resent having to ignore my own teens because she demands all my time.

and then I hate myself for resenting her!

My mom is accusing me of attempting to murder her.

Mom is 72. She does not have a dementia or altzheimers diagnosis. She has Type 2 Diabetes, multiple amputations. I am her full time caregiver and paid 40 hours a week to attend to her needs.

She has limited mobility. She can use a walker but sometimes its too hard and relies on a wheelchair.

I am at her home (across the driveway from my house) for 12-13 hours a day attending to her needs. 7 days a week.

She has always been... difficult.

Lately she has become convinced that people are wanting her dead. She is openly telling me that she feels I want her dead. If she is dead, I don't get paid- so why would I want her dead? Its not logical. She told me that she thinks I am spraying her sheets and pillowcases with chemicals to kill her. She also said that I am putting poison in her food because she gets stomach aches after eating.

She told my brother that she overheard my 15 yr old son plotting her murder on the phone, that she heard him outside her bedroom window saying this. He was talking to a boy who is a friend who lives 900 miles away and they play video games together.

My brother believes her and called the sheriff for a welfare check. She told them that he said his friend was going to drive here, hold her down in her bed so he could gut her and dance in her intestines and eat her heart in front of her while she's still alive. The called the boy and he denied it, and explained they were talking about video game stratagies. They play a game together called Ark which is a DINOSAUR breeding game.

Admittedly, my 15 yr old does have behavior issues- but I do not believe that he planned her murder like this.

I am at a loss. I tried talking to my brother and he wants nothing to do with me because she has him convinced now I am murdering her.

I have attempted to tell her doctor about the issues and I don't know if they believe me either.

I don't know what to do.

You guys I sobbed!

I know everyone HATES on Carrie. But...

I was born in 75. My mom named me Carolyn. When she brought me home from the hospital my papa held me and said. "Carolyn is too big a name for a baby. I'm going to call her Carrie". I have been called Carrie since frigging 1975!!

Papa died about 10 years ago and I'm still not over it. He was my father figure. He taught me to fish and hunt, build things, drive a tractor, milk a cow. I miss him so much.

So when Mr, Edwards said that to baby Carrie.. I LOST IT. I had to stop the episode and have a good cry.

Thank you Netflix.

Are the Irwin kids really that sweet and kind?

Growing up and watching Steve Irwin as a young adult and absolutely loving him and his wife, I tuned into a show on TV featuring Bindi and Robert Irwin and the zoo.

They seem like they have really grown and had a wonderful life with Terri. I couldn't help but notice they are SO sweet, like cloyingly sweet, loving and kind.

Are they truly that lovely, kissing koalas and telling echidnas how much they love them?

Thank you, an American.

How many people are at the train station?

I am curious how many folks are hanging out at the train station at this point?

It was about 140 years from the beginning when Tim McGraw landed there to the point the last of the Duttons left. At 5 new residents a year that could easily be quite the stack.

I chose 5 because I imagine there are more peaceful years where nobody went there, but then we have some mass migrations to the train station so I figured it would average out.

So, my estimate is 500-600?

Bass Reeves music score

This is driving me insane. The title score to Bass Reeves. I have heard it before, or something VERY similar. Its an absolute earworm! Has Sheridan used a very similar score on any of his other shows? I can't figure it out.

Help with 4300C letter

I filed my taxes in February 2025. Approved. Got state refund within 2 weeks. Federal never showed. After months of calling and being told "There is a mistake on your refund and you will get a letter" I got a letter. I got the 4300C letter on November 10th 2025. They found there was a mistake on my W2 and it reduced my refund from almost 10K to 8K. Fine. I agreed, and uploaded my response to the letter agreeing and not protesting the reduction on November 11th 2025.

January 11I called and they said they were allowed 90 days to review it and issue my refund.

February 11 I called and they said oops, high volume. We still haven't processed it. The lady was super nice and put in a ticket saying please look at this case.

April, same. The lady said they can take 180 days to look at the TICKET asking them to look at the case, but that I should expect my refund by the first week of May.

I have tried calling 4-5 times this month since May 11, and the phone says "Sorry, high volume, call another day".

Is anyone familiar with my situation? I would really, really like to get this resolved. I already got my 2025 refund. =)

I don't know what else to do. The April 11 lady said if she put in another ticket, the 180 day thing restarts and it can take a lot longer.

I asked about filing for a tax advocate and she said they would look at the situation and close it because "The IRS is following the rules".

Help.

Also, will they owe me interest for the 8K of my money that they are withholding from me?
