Who else gave one of their wolves some sheep’s clothing?
I gave this to Kyle a while back, and I swear he wears this about half the time, and it just cracks me up.

Hey folks - Sorry there’s no pics, but I wanted to toss out that if you’re looking for a hole in the wall fun plate to eat, Willy-Yums on 14th Street was a fun place for my wife and I for lunch today. I guess they also have burgers, but they’re pretty much a hotdog place. Lots of different styles to choose from. I had the Frito Pie dog (delicious!) and a Chicago dog with tot’s and a Pepsi, and my wife had a Chicago style dog with a diet Pepsi, all of which came to $17, which I thought was reasonable. I found out about the place because of an ad I saw on Facebook, and I guess they were pretty busy today because they recently posted something on TikTok.
Look… it’s a hotdog place. Don’t expect linen tablecloths and a well-dressed waitstaff, but if you just want a cheap, fun place for lunch, my wife and I both recommend it.

I’ve taken up the hobby of restoring Gameboys Advance systems for fun, and NHL 02 has been my go-to testing cart for these systems. I just played my first full game of NHL 02 for probably the first time since 2002, and my skills are obviously waning, because in a game between the Sens and Lightning, Chara got into a fight with Martin St. Louis…and lost.
Can you even imagine if Big Z had gotten into a fight with Martin St. Louis? Chara would’ve squashed him like a grape! The humor of it all has me laughing and thinking that maybe I should play NHL 02 some more so this doesn’t happen again. At least two of my goals were scored by Wade Redden and Alfie.
Yes, he has a Lion cut, and honestly is a much happier cat after he has it done.
Hey folks - I looked and haven’t found an answer for this, and hopefully it’s an easy fix.
If I copy any NDS ROM file to the root of the microSD card, I can run it just fine. When I move that same known working ROM to the games folder, I always get:
Failed to open the rom file.
/ROMNAME.nds
Obviously, substitute ROMNAME for whatever ROM you want.
What I think is the issue is that the whole path to the ROM file isn’t being passed to the program that runs the NDS roms, and that’s why it’s failing. It should be passed as /games/ROMNAME.nds and not /ROMNAME.nds. What further leads me to believe this is if I leave the known good ROM in the root but click on the ROM file in /games, it works. If I delete the ROM from the root and only have it in /games, it fails.
I’m guessing that this is something I’m missing in /_pico/settings.json but I haven’t figured it out yet.
Anybody else run into this / have a fix?
I posted recently about a Gameboy Color that I was restoring, and as of this evening - it works!
I bought this completely trashed Gameboy Color because I wanted the challenge of restoring it, and what a challenge it was.
- The originally clear case was the most disgusting yellow. I retrobrighted the case, and it must be my lighting, because the “after” pic isn’t nearly as yellow as it looks. It’s not the original clear, but it’s so much better.
- The battery contacts were corroded. I restored those by removing the rust with electrolysis and then nickel plated them.
- The volume wheel wasn’t just rusty - it was rust. Had to replace that one.
- I could hear sounds through the headphone jack (which was faint), but not through the speaker. I ordered a cap kit for it, and installed that today. Sound is back and working great through the internal speaker.
- I was hoping that the screen just needed a new polarizer, but that wasn’t the case. There was lots of rust on the tray that the screen was in, so I ordered a replacement original screen for it. Yeah, I know there are fancy screens out there that I could’ve gone with, but I wanted an original because this was a restoration project.
It was kinda awesome to play that first level of Frogger on it a little while ago. From something most people would’ve thrown out to fully working again - woohoo!
I’m starting to work on Gameboys for fun, and a lot of this is so I can try things I’ve never done before, like retrobrighting.
This Gameboy Color is supposed to have a clear case, but obviously it’s anything but. I built Odd Tinkering’s “Ultimate Retrobright Box” from his Odd Experiments channel, but I’m lacking the power supply for the heater, so I did this with 6% hydrogen peroxide with the UV lights in that box for about 12 or so hours. It needs more time in that setup tomorrow while I’m working, but I’m happy with how it’s coming along so far.
The battery terminals were nasty with corrosion, so I removed the rust from them with electrolysis, and then I nickel plated them when I was done.
For those wondering about the screen, sadly it isn’t just the polarizer that needed replacing. The screen had a lot of rust on it, and even with a new polarizer I was seeing no signs of life when I turned the system on. I know that IPS screens look awesome, but for this one, I’m working on restoration, so I grabbed a working original screen to put in there.
I know this is an odd way to have fun with a Gameboy, but I’m really enjoying working on restoring this GBC and a Gameboy Advance that I got.
