5800X3D - getting WHEA-Logger Event ID 18 errors

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: RX 7800 XT

CPU: RYZEN 7 5800X3D 8 CORE 16 THREADS

Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B550A Gaming

BIOS Version: 3631

RAM: Kingston/HyperX Fury Beast 32GB (2x16) 3200 Mhz

PSU: MSI A850G 850W

Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 11 Home 26200

GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenalin 26.7.1

Chipset Drivers: 8.08.12.551

Description of Original Problem: I recently started getting occasional WHEA-Logger Event ID 18 errors.

Dates when they occurred:

  • July 3, 2026
  • August 5, 2026
  • August 16, 2026
  • August 18, 2026

They occurred only once on each of those days, while I was away from the computer. According to my settings, the monitor turns off after a period of inactivity, so the PC was most likely in an idle/low-power state when the errors occurred. But I need to add, that I am ways from my PC multiple times a day (5-10) and it occurs so rarely even though my monitor turns off many times.

The error is reported as:

A fatal hardware error has occurred.
Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor APIC ID: 0 / 3 / 7 (depending on the occurrence) - it is never the same APIC ID so far

The first three occurrences were on July 3, August 5, and August 16. The fourth one occurred on August 18, only two days after the previous error and AFTER I updated my BIOS to 3631.

Troubleshooting: I updated the BIOS to version 3636 on August 16, 2026. Before that, I was using BIOS version 3631. It did not help as the error occured yesterday.

I also updated the AMD chipset drivers on August 15, 2026 to version 8.08.12.551.

After the latest WHEA error, I checked my BIOS settings. PBO was set to Auto and Curve Optimizer was also set to Auto. I have now changed the settings so that PBO uses a manual scaler of 1x, and Curve Optimizer is set to Manual / All Cores / Positive / 0. I wonder if it may help to solve the issue.

My main concern is whether these WHEA errors indicate a developing hardware problem with the CPU, motherboard, RAM, or another component, or whether they could be caused by power-management/BIOS/driver issues.

The errors are still relatively rare, but the fact that the last two occurred only two days apart concerns me.

What would you recommend as the next steps to determine the cause?

Nice market for people on a budget

Hi,

I've been thinking about buying a knife for a very long time.

I had one particular knife in mind — a Falchion Gamma Doppler Phase 2. I think the price is really nice, but I didn't want to spend too much, especially since prices keep going lower and lower.

Still, I wanted to get myself something, so I decided to go for a budget combo (both items are hated by many, I know 😂), but I think you can't go wrong with this for €120: Minimal Wear Moto Gloves | Transport with a 0.10 float + Factory New Navaja | Tiger Tooth with a 0.002 float.

The combo comes to €120 including the CSFloat fee. I remember that before the infamous update, the gloves alone cost twice as much for a 0.14 float.

I think I'm going to try this combo for a while and then decide if I want to add some extra cash for the Gamma Doppler Falchion.

Cheers!

Training readiness is 1 in the morning

Yesterday after work, I decided to go rollerblading. We’re currently experiencing the highest temperatures ever recorded here in Poland. I’ve had two training sessions in three days, and on top of that, the heat makes it almost impossible to properly recover during the night.

Despite all of that, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a “1” on my Garmin. I’ve been using Garmin watches for years, and this is a first for me.

Couple words from a Milan fan

Milan fan for 30 years here. My journey started back in the 90s, when my parents bought me a Maldini shirt, while my older brother got a Djorkaeff one.

I’ve seen the best of Milan, and I’ve lived through the banter era as well. I understand that no club can stay on top forever. But when you manage a club like Milan, you need competent people in charge who truly understand what they’re doing.

The moment RedBird took over, everything started going downhill. Their biggest mistake was letting Maldini go. He wasn’t just a club legend — he was the symbol of Milan, a motivator, and a role model for so many players. Imagine signing for a club like Milan and getting a call from Maldini himself telling you that the club needs you. That must be an unbelievable feeling.

They fired Maldini because he didn’t share their vision. After winning the Scudetto, he wanted the club to invest more and bring in world-class players to make Milan competitive in the Champions League. RedBird and Furlani had a different idea. All they care about is finishing in the top four and securing the €60 million from the Champions League to keep the balance sheets looking good.

Now that everything has fallen apart, I honestly can’t imagine any scenario where Allegri, Ibrahimović, Furlani, and Moncada all stay. Each of them has shown a serious level of incompetence.

Of course, the bigger issue will still be Cardinale. But maybe this time they’ll hire better people. Who knows.

My dream would be for them to apologize to Maldini and try to rebuild something properly. But honestly, I doubt it. It’s rare for the American ownership to admit they were wrong, and I’m not even sure Maldini would accept an offer from them at this point.

Anyway, we’ll see what happens in the coming hours and days.

Schwertwal vs Bzyg

Hey guys,

I wanted to start a quick discussion about the two tanks mentioned in the title.

For those who opened boxes or got lucky with a free drop — which one do you enjoy playing more? And which one is more frustrating to face?

I mostly play Tier X, so every new lootbox tank at that tier immediately raises questions about balance and whether it could shift the random battle or competitive meta.

At first, the Schwertwal seemed stronger to me, but after a while I realized the rocket booster feels pretty awkward. Once activated, you basically lose control and just zoom into position whether you want to or not. Hull-down it’s definitely super strong, but there are tech tree tanks that can do exactly the same.

The Bzyg, on the other hand, feels genuinely scary to fight against. In close-range engagements, getting hit for 800 damage every 13 seconds is pretty brutal. Sure, it’s balanced somewhat by the mediocre HP and the occasionally trollish gun handling, but overall it feels harder to play against and, in my opinion, stronger overall.

Really curious to hear the opinions of people who own both.
