Before anything, I should tell you going to the vet isn't an option. I'm young and I live with my parents who just don't care enough to spend money on a vet trip and I'm the only one trying to figure out what's wrong with our dog.
Our youngest, Sammy 2 year old boston terrier, recently stopped eating. Yesterday morning my mom yelled at him for barking at another dog, and we thought he wasn't eating his breakfast because of that. I tried to sit down and hand feed him. He would take kibble into his mouth, chew it, and then spit it out. He seemed interested in the food but he couldn't eat it. I thought that he must have some pain in his mouth, or he was nauseous. My mom said it was just because she yelled at him but I felt it was something bigger. I cooked plain chicken for him for dinner and fed him a little bit, along with some baby carrots chopped into small bits. He ate the chicken slowly but left the carrots.
This morning my mom told me he had eaten breakfast but I found the bowl still full later. I tried to give him his dinner just now and he still wouldn't eat it, same thing as yesterday. Then he threw up, once in the room and then again as I was rushing him outside. The vomit is a brown color and watery with darker brown liquid clotting at the edges.
I offered his favorite soft treat and he couldn't swallow it, once again he seems interested in the food but unable to eat it. I checked his stomach and abdomen by gently pressing to see if it felt tense or if he expressed discomfort, it seemed normal. I checked his gums and they look normal to me. He wouldn't let me open his mouth wide enough to look for something wrong with his teeth. As I write this, I'm soaking his food in warm water to make it soft in hopes it'll be more enticing. I was playing with him trying to make him bite me playfully like he usually did but everytime he did he immediately let go.
I'm worried about him even more now because I know that this color of vomit could possibly mean there's blood in it, and the fact he won't eat is worrying to me if no one else in my household. I'm doing everything I can do myself at home as a kind of makeshift check up because no matter how much I beg I know my parents won't take them to the vet.
