Looking for a refurbished laptop

Hi mates,

I'm looking to buy a refurbished laptop from a shop in kochi that sells them. Any shop recommendations out of your personal experience?

Would an online platform be a better choice? Any recommendations for that too?

Sonet Rear AC Cooling

Hi mates,

I own a 2026 make Sonet HTK+ 1L Turbo engine model. The passengers at the rear always complain that the AC cooling at the rear is pretty bad. When I checked the rear AC vents I noticed that even at the highest fan speed the cooling and fan speed at the rear is abnormally low when compared to the front vents.

Has anyone else noticed or faced this same issue? Is this common across Sonet or is this an issue specific to my car?

Shops to sell used laptop which aren't functioning anymore

Hi mates,

Could you please recommend some shops in kochi or an online store that purchases old laptops that aren't functioning anymore.I have three of them so I am trying to sell off all of them.

I would also like to know if there are any shops in kochi that sell refurbished laptops by purchasing old ones.

Thanks!

Looking for recommendations for an isofix car seat for a baby!

Hi All,

I'm looking for some recommendations for an ISOFIX child seat for a 3 month old baby, who can use it until 7 years of age.

I prefer only ones with ISOFIX compatibility and a 360 degree rotation capability.

What other feature should I look into while buying one and any specific brands that you'd recommend?

Also, would like to hear the overall experience and feedback of parents who bought one for their little ones!

A Failed Salary Negotiation Attempt!

Hi mates,

I am sharing this experience to know the opinions of any HR or IT folks here to know what went wrong or what could have been done better to prevent a salary negotiation that went wrong.

I had referred one of my friends for a position in my team in the MNC that I work for. The interview went well and he got selected without much of a competition. Then came the negotiation stage with the HR. He was expecting a decent pay and asked for a figure between 10-15LPA which fell into the upper limit but still had chances of getting accepted. The whole idea was that even if HR isn't going to accept it they would offer something reasonable based on his expectations. He had also enquired if they offer any additional benefits in the form of Joining bonus or other allowances which they said 'No' to.

The HR kept him waiting for some days then offered a figure much less than 10LPA and told him to take it or leave it with no space for further negotiations. Since he wanted to join here so badly, he accepted it. Then came the twist, after 2 more weeks, to everyone's shock, he got a response mail from HR that said they are not considering him anymore!

What could be the possible reasons for rejection here? How could he have negotiated better?

Edit - For additional context, the pay for the role based on his experience level should have been above 10L, but since he was earning much less in his current role, they cited that as a reason to restrict him to a much lower pay. Also, the HR pushed the selection of an internal candidate, who in fact got hired, soon after my friend was rejected.

The HR team over here made sure that both the team lead as well as the team manager of the team to which he was being hired to was kept out of the communication loop and also misinformed them that my friend didn't accept the offer per their terms.

Hey all,

Our team manager from the US is making a one-week visit to our Kochi office. We are planning a two-day outing during the weekend and are currently putting together an itinerary.

We would love to get recommendations from the group on must-see spots, restaurants, or bars that would be interesting for a visitor from abroad. We plan to start around 11 AM both days and wind up by 7 PM. We are also open to road trips to destinations outside the city.

If you have hosted similar outings with US colleagues, I’d love to hear where they enjoyed going and what their food preferences were usually like.

Thanks!
