I'm a SWE with 3 years of experience. I want to be in a more client facing role, however I'm just unsure regarding the stability of the field compared to pure software. I've heard input from both sides but would love to see the thoughts and opinons of this subreddit regarding this topic. I'm sure some of you folks were previously SWE's prior to becoming SEs?

Hi there! I'm a software engineer with around 3 years of experience. I've got a BS in Bio, BS in Comp Sci. Im also pursuing an MS in CS! I used to work in healthcare as well (not that relevant i guess but just throwing it out there)

Now, how can i hop into a bioinformatics role? I've seen SOME advice but its mostly catered to folks that are lacking in some realm. Considering I've got both sides of the coin, what's a good way to shore up my application? I have seen roles but they seem very stats-heavy. Is that the majority of roles?

I see lots of folks mentioning MS/PHD in bioinformatics on job posts in linkedin. However, I'm posting just to get some curated fresh insight. As opposed to spamming claude/chatgpt with questions.

Hey there, so i've been thinkign about this idea for a while now. I feel like most people say you HAVE to start as an SDR to then become an AE, SAE, etc. However, I was wondering if any ex-software engineers here did SWE -> Sales Eng -> AE. or something similar

Hey there! I'm an enthusiast for languages. Was wondering if any (once you're fluent) would help in this field. I have browsed this subreddit before, however there is a lack of discussion regarding it. Here's what makes my post different i guess.

Between these langauges, where have you seen it being useful?

Mandarin, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean.

Of course, feel free to add in anything you feel is marginally relevant. I'm fluent in spanish, know some portuguese and french, and I learn mandarin in my spare time. I dont expect quick results, but this is something I have wondered about... what do y'all think?

For reference, im based in the US, but maybe US companies <-> EU, which makes DE/FR more useful than if not . Or... US <-> APAC.. or US <-> LATAM, etc etc.....
