theres no gender in my lang, and extended family terms arent bothered with either. in this culture, siblings are raised in a more tribal way, so they are with cousins as well, which lead to distinguishing them kinda irrelevant. you can however distinguish parent from pibling tho, as the ones who gave birth to you are the ones who hold legal status over your guardianship, making it an important lexicalization.

there was a small push to split or just fully give those rights to the tribe as a whole, meaning the tribe would have legal authority over you until around 16, as this would make it easier for neighbors to take care of the tribes children, keep children from being stuck with bad parents, etc, but theres fear of it leading to the tribe leaders having too much authority and preventing children from getting healthcare or enough food or clean water. its a tricky situation.

just wanted to drop a lore crumb, moving on... ive been struggling to decide on a name for my lang lately :(

rule 1 i wanted to have something catchy, and rule 2 something you could google and get an actual result for rather than it pull up something random. i want a language you can actually look up resources for, once its published of course.

anyhoot, here are a few options, tell me which one you think fits most! (only if you wanna, no pressure)

1. ʻumi ʻumi (current name ive been using)
2. lululili (what my nanalala calls me :3)
3. laili (literally just my name again) breaks rule 1 and 2
4. kapi kapi (actually sounds like a real language) breaks rule 2 kinda
5. hapi hapi (kinda cute tho) breaks rule 2 i think
6. pika pika (chu) breaks rule 2
7. kala kala (neat)

these next ones are ideas by my partner TwT

1. hihihiha (like the clash royale bit) breaks rule 1 and 2
2. nanananapupu (i dont know honestly) ig this doesnt break any rules somehow
3. pipipupu (oml ima cry)

I'm experimenting with a new script function that recalls a previous word so that you don't have to rewrite it. This helps speed up writing and also makes it look less repetitive, alongside being slightly more aesthetically pleasing, at least in my opinion.

To call this function, you just write a little "s" somewhere on a word you want to store, then you can recall it by writing a big "S" which is pronounced and means said word. This function is a 1-time use though, so to continue recalling it just repeat the function.

ive been working on an island themed language for the last... who knows how long- and i finally finished my writing system for it and figured id try sharing it :D

some notable qualities of it are that it doesnt really have alignment/transitivity, meaning there isnt nom/acc or erg/abs or anything like that. you can only compile clauses via adjuncts and basic conjunctions. you cant give someone a ball, but you could "ball theirs becomes", pretty slick amirite?
