Places where I can adopt Betta Fish in HK?

I'm starting to set up a new aquarium for a betta.

I would rather adopt a betta from someone who cannot take care of them instead of buying at shops where these poor fishes are kept in horrible conditions to be sold later on.

If someone can point me to the right community, I would be very grateful. Thank you!

Are these guys going to make it and eventually carpet?

I have these guys planted (dwarf baby tears? Monte carlo?) for a few weeks now and it doesn't seem like they're rooting and are slowly turning light green/yellow.

This is a low tech tank, but will be setting up a mini CO2 system in a few days. Will these guys bounce back, eventually root, and spread throughout the scape?

This jumping spider has been hanging around my tank all day

I think the little guy is looking at the copepods and detritus worms under the substrate but idk. I feel bad for him 🥲

I love my baby tanks

Left tank - 15cm x 15cm x 20 cm.

Right tank - Main display - 780 ml; sump - 680 ml.

Those dwarf baby tears (I think) are fighting for their lives 🤣. Will probably replace them with monte carlo or sand.

Enrichment Variety for Rats

Hi! I would like to ask any rat experts on suitable enrichment for rats. I am quite new with this and any suggestions will be extremely helpful.

We have 124 sqin (16.73x10.47x7.28 in) conventional cages for rats. We use aspen shavings as bedding and give them hardwood cubes (bioserv) as enrichment and paperhuts (bioserv) for single housed and mating cages.

I feel that this seems to not be enough and there's room for improvement to improve their welfare. I have been searching on other enrichment varieties but there's so many options to choose from.

Also, we have nestlets for our mice, can those be good for rats as well?

Thank you in advance 🙏

Am I too old to be a Pathologist?

Hi all. For some background, I'm 32 years old with a veterinary background (PH vet and now a veterinary technologist at a university in Hong Kong).

Veterinary pathology work is quite few and far between so I'm thinking of going to medical school and pursuing a pathology specialization. Here are a few things I wanted to ask:

- How long does it usually take (medical school + residency)? Am I too old for this?

- How hard is it to land a job as a pathologist in the Philippines?

- How much do pathologists typically earn in the Philippines?

All your comments would be greatly appreciated. Help your tita na medyo nagkakaquarter-life crisis. To be honest, I was also thinking of being a Pathologists' Assistant abroad, basta matry lang makawork sa path lab. Haha

Hi. My dad gave me his Dell 7320 and after a few months, the keyboard that came with it wasn't working anymore (trackpad is working fine, but keys are non responsive).

I bought a used one in taobao, but this time, the keys are responsive, but the trackpad is not responsive 🥲).

Is there a way I could fix this? Or I just bought a busted keyboard?
