I made a cheat sheet for the identity crisis nobody prepped me for in my 40s

I hit a point this year where I was standing at the sink doing dishes and realized I couldn’t remember the last time I did something that wasn’t for someone else. Turns out it’s really common and almost nobody talks about it directly.

I couldn’t find anything that wasn’t either a 200 page self help book or a TikTok trend, so I made my own reference guide.

12 short sections (why resentment shows up, testing new versions of yourself, boundaries) each with a quick script and a do/don’t.

I made a cheat sheet for the identity crisis nobody prepped me for in my 40s

First of all, what makes me qualified:
-In my 40s happily (now)
-Went through my own “finding myself” era and am successfully in the other side and better than ever
-Formerly in an organizational psychologist role
-Endured a brutal lay off from my dream job last year
-Was forced to move with my family
-I support an aging, difficult parent

I hit a point this year where I was standing at the sink doing dishes and realized I couldn’t remember the last time I did something that wasn’t for someone else. Not a breakdown, just static. Turns out it’s really common and almost nobody talks about it directly.

I couldn’t find anything that wasn’t either a 200 page self help book or a social media trend, so I made my own mini guide. 12 short sections (why the resentment shows up, testing new versions of yourself, boundaries) each with a quick script and a do/don’t.

Ask a stranger anything anonymously

In between jobs and trying to keep busy with mini-projects. I made a site called Overhear Me where you can ask or answer anything anonymously.

Check it out and let me know what you think, or ask or answer something. More info in the comments ¨̮

What does this sign say?

My mentally unstable mother sent this to me saying she likes this place and wants to look into visiting at some point. Worried about what she blurred out and if it’s a safe place for her. Can someone help? $10
