Am I crazy to consider consular processing (EB with valid work visa)

I am on an L1 visa, just got my i140 approved. O have a PD from 2019 (ported from a prior EB2 approved i140). Country of birth is India. My PD is current.

I would like to get my GC as soon as possible - my company is very supportive but my team has had a few layoffs in the last few years, there will likely be new owners next year and the uncertainty is killing me. I've worked at this company for over 10 years, and am in a very highly paid exec role which are usually first on the chopping block when layoffs roll around. My industry and role is also really challenging to get a new job at the level I'm at currently.

My understanding is that if I go for consular processing, I'll have to wait a couple of months for my docs to be reviewed and then another 4-6 months for an interview. Once the interview is scheduled, I can continue working on my L1, and will have to go back for the interview, following which a decision will be made and if approved, I'll have my GC in a few weeks. Start to finish the process will take around 8-9 months.

If I go for AoS, I don't have to go back to India for an interview, but the process can take anywhere from 6 months to multiple years. If I lose my job within 6 months, I'm SOL, but if I manage to hold on for 6 months, I could work on my EAD and look for another job, without being unauthorized.

I also deal very badly with uncertainty and the idea of waiting for years and years for a green card gives me the hives. I feel confident in my role and think it's unlikely that I will be rejected at the consulate, although I guess there are no guarantees either way.

Is there something I'm missing here? Help me make this decision!

I140 Premium Timeline

My company applied for my i140 in April with premium processing. It's now been around 35 business days without any update. Getting a little nervous, is this a bad sign? It would be very frustrating if they sent an RFE request right at the last minute, is that likely to happen?

PS 199

Could current parents please share your experience? We are moving into the zone this summer and our kid will be going into Kindergarten in 2027. It looks like it's sort of slipped off the "top" D3nschool list and trying to understand why.

I’m from India. My employer applied for EB2 I-140 for me in 2019. Based on new degrees and achievements they have applied for a new EB1 140 last month under premium processing.

I understand that once or if I140 is approved, I’ll be current due to my EB2 date. I’m wondering if my I-485 will then be processed faster if my PD is before others in the line? Or are all current I-485s treated the same, regardless of the actual date?

I'm looking for recommendations for higher end Indian indie designer brands for western clothes. I'm looking to buy a cocktail dress for an event in the next few months, willing to spend around 40k but needs to be excellent fabric (non-polyester) and something really unique and interesting. Also not looking for something super revealing, I'm in my 30s and the event is work-adjacent so nothing too clubby or "young." I've looked on Nykaa Fashion, Ajio and Ogaan and seen a few things I like from AM/PM, Charkhee and Dash & Dot, but I would love to hear people's personal recommendations as it's hard to buy something online without getting a feel for the quality and materials.
