Favorite ship of each size?

There are no wrong answers.

What is your favorite ship of each size (snub, small, medium, large, capital), and why?

One thing I love about this game is how it appeals to so many different play styles, and I love hearing from other players with play styles different from my own.

I'll go first.

Snub: Mirai Fury, c'mon... it's a baby TIE fighter

Small: Drake Golem OX, hauls so much for its size while staying nimble

Medium: RSI Zeus MkII ES, good all-around daily driver with long range

Large: Anvil Carrack Expedition, a ship that just feels like it wants to be out exploring deep space

Capital: RSI Polaris, just edges out the Idris a bit by feeling a bit more refined

EDIT: (bonus ship) my favorite bonus ship that doesn't really have a purpose right now is my Argo SRV. It's the kind of ship that I was always trying to perfect in Lego as a child.

I regret that I can only fly one at a time

I promise that I'm done buying ships for now... unless a MOLE Talus edition suddenly comes up for sale. 😆

It's been a long road...

...getting from there to here. 😁

I only started playing this year, starting with my pledged Titan and my pledged RAFT.

Despite the bugs and the glitches and the frustrations of this game, I honestly haven't lost myself in a video game like this since MYST first released.

Today I launched my Idris, "Victorious".

Yeah, it's complete overkill for me to use as a solo base, but this somehow felt like some degree of endgame achievement for me.

As amazing a ship as she is, my day to day will still largely be hauling cargo around in my Golem Ox or courier missions in my Pisces.

Nothing makes me appreciate the handling and gameplay in my small and medium ships quite like piloting an Idris does.

Thank you to this community for all of the advice and commiseration along the way.

See y'all out there. o7

My new home!

Second picture is my brother testing if his M80 fits in the hangar bay alongside my Pisces.

Docking this monster is going to take some getting used to.

Why would a hospital ship EVER need lights down this low?

I really hope that CIG gets the interior lighting issues sorted soon.

On the Apollo Medivac, the inability to turn on the lights at all is particularly gameplay-limiting.

Taking the tow truck out for some upgrades

I really wish that I had more to do with this little ship.

I'm really growing fond of ship gameplay with my unarmed ships.

Finally found a Drake ship that I might actually like

Click-bait title notwithstanding, I've honestly just not dug the aesthetic of Drake ships in general, but the Cutlass Red in BIS paint scheme isn't half bad.

Is anyone else using this ship as a daily driver?

On my day off, too... 😞

But seriously, I'm glad that they're performing maintenance.

I'm just being selfishly impatient.

I miss my sofa

I know that CIG has much bigger problems to go after, but I miss my hangar-flair sofas.

I hope that CIG adds them back to the game.

Sacrificing bandwidth for improved latency

For my purposes, as low latency as possible is ultimately more important than raw bandwidth.

I have had SQM enabled on my router (Flint 3) for a while now through LuCI, but after a recent firmware update I can now manage that through the stock firmware.

Without SQM, I typically get about 900Mbps down and about 110Mbps up, but latency is a mess and isn't ideal for online gaming.

With SQM optimally configured, I get about 200Mbps down and just show of 100Mbps up, but latency is much MUCH better.

For anyone having online gaming issues, consider putting a decent router between you and the T-Mobile modem so that you can implement SQM.

Enabling SQM will inevitably eat into your raw bandwidth, but it can help get your latency as low as possible.

Died a few too many times in my M80 today, time to sleep it off

I still made more than I lost today, but damn if that M80 doesn't feel fragile sometimes.

Org recommendations?

I've been running solo since I started playing since I'm a natural grumpasaur, but I think it might be nice to actually join an org that I can run non-solo missions and activities with.

I figure the reset with 4.8 is a good as time as any to mix things up, and I'm looking for general recommendations for an org to join.

FWIW, my general gameplay style is more laid back, not heavy on PvP (though open to it if I can provide and am provided with backup support), more into exploration/cargo/defense gameplay.
