Organizing my gear
Finally got some some time to organize my gear. Now I'm realizing just how much stuff I have lol.

Finally got my shit together after my first kidney stone at the end of 2024. Was weighed at the hospital and saw that I was 636lbs. It was the heaviest I have ever been. After I was out of the hospital I started on a path to change my life.
Started seeing an amazing doctor that discovered all of my levels were way off. My testosterone was almost non-existent (they treat for anything under 300 and I was at 70).
After a month of starting different meds I felt considerably better and started becoming now active and cared about the food I was putting in my body.
The weight started coming off. I'm now at 383 and although I have a lot more to lose I feel incredible.

Once again my wife out fished me. She hooked the clown knife and the hybrid bass.
Wife caught her PB (6.36lb) today and I couldn't be more proud.
So honestly I'm really clumsy with my left hand so when I lip a decent bass I've had the tendency to drop it. I didn't want to risk hurting the fish so I bought a gripper. It's been great. No longer do I worry about dropping the fish and it makes getting the hook out a lot faster. I see so many people on posts yelling "just lip the fish" but also see everyone yell about respecting the fish and how to hold them properly and not to let them touch the ground. I'd rather be looked at as weird than to risk hurting the fish.
Most of my go to rods are medium heavy fast action. I use them to fish different lures and techniques with success. So my question is how important the type of rod for the lure your using? What are the benefits?
Been forcing myself to only fish lures that I haven't been able to catch anything on. Tonight it was the ned rig. I've tried it before with no luck. Experimented with different retrieves and finally figured it out. Even got a chunk of a blue gill in there.
Saw this fish this morning and couldn't tell what it was. The distance between the dorsal and tail fins was about 15 inches. It was swimming with another one a little smaller but never got a good enough look to ID. I know this lake has big bass because I caught a 6.5lb out of here not too long ago. This one looked a lot bigger.
