Dragging with microneedling pen

I recently bought the Dr. Pen m8s and I’ve done one baby session with a 36 pin and only to like max 0.5 depth. I know that derms and experts warn about dragging and tearing with dermarollers and I’m trying to understand how that’s not a concern with a pen device?? Just given the mechanics of how it works, it seems like dragging across the skin is going to create long scratches rather than tiny punctures. With that said though, this is how I’ve seen it done even professionally so it seems this is the standard method?? Can anyone enlighten me on this topic? I’ve tried doing it on a banana after I was done with a cartridge and it definitely does leave scratch marks. I’d love if someone can share some studies or a reputable source?

I’m thinking that maybe if I do a deeper session, I’ll use a stamping motion with it but I suppose that defeats the purpose of having a pen and not an actual dermastamp.

Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 gel

TLDR: Has anyone tried the Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel and found a CF alternative that is truly just as good?

I was given a sample of this in a goody bag and I honestly thought they were cruelty free for some reason. I tried it and O.M.G!!! Instant results. My skin looks SO much better today than yesterday. I’ve see a lot of reviews that this is overpriced and there are a number of cruelty free and cheaper alternatives. Maelove is one I have tried in the past and it is not the same. I’d love to hear from folks who have actually tried this one and found a truly comparable product that is CF.
