Did they use AI to come up with the math of a 100x reduction in time?

I have an old Macbook (roughly 8 years old) that when plugged in, runs fine for my needs. It also holds a charge fine on the battery and runs fine without being plugged in… with one exception. If unplugged, when I move the screen past a certain point it causes a full shutdown. I assumed this is something with the flex display cable but would this only happen when it’s unplugged? That to me points to more of a battery connection issue, no?
