Marius is the Worst

I only read the first three books and I would hear other fans talk about how awful Marius was. I never disagreed with anyone, especially since he did allow Armand to believe he was dead when he wasn’t, but I also didn’t completely understand. But I finally started reading The Vampire Armand and all I can say is….i get it now.

Who would you see being a guest judge on Dragula?

I’ve been watching Dragula since finishing TVL and it got me thinking, they’re probably going to have Sam, Assad, Jacob, Eric or Delaney be a guest judge, especially since The Boulets made an appearance at the premiere. It will probably be Sam because of TVL (and honestly, Lestat is the most iconic character), but for those of you who also watch, who do you think would be so down to guest judge on Dragula?

Lestat and Cortland Mayfair

I was just thinking about this today, but did anyone else get the ick when Lestat said Cortland was cool? He (trigger warning) ⚠️ raped (and in the show murdered) Deirdre and is just plain slimy.

I’m assuming he doesn’t know, but I just hated that detail. I guess Cortland, like Merrick would be cool with the vampires. But yeah, I hate it.

Armand

I knew that Armand never loved Louis (edit: I take back what I said about never loving him, I know Armand did love Louis but I believe after Paris he eventually fell out of love with him and stayed for stability and other self-serving needs), but lord did he still shock me with his callousness and anger. I actually thought I would hate him for once, but of course Assad and the writers won’t allow me to.

I loved that Louis finally acknowledged Armand’s pain and what drove him to do what he did. Despite how fucked up his actions are, he is so damn wounded and everyone around him dismisses and mocks him and his trauma. That right there reminded me that I can’t hate him (not saying that no one can). Seeing his face twist in agony over Louis’s words and the memories of his past abuse, damn!

I do hope Louis meant it. I think he did, but Regina definitely forced him to look inward and finally acknowledge that he hurt Armand terribly and that Armand still is a traumatized child who is desperately looking to be loved and understood. I watched After Dark and Jacob and Rolin reminded me that after the seance, Louis did realize he needed to work on himself and take accountability. So I do believe that the seance opened Louis up to acknowledging how fucked up his dynamic with Armand was and that he did very much hurt him, even if it was happening under duress. I hope this will also help Armand heal and perhaps do some genuine self reflection and not the “apologies” he was giving during season 3.

I hope he also can find it in himself to love someone back, because I do question his ability to love, especially since he never got to learn what true love is. I also wonder if the introduction of Sybil and Benji is will give him more opportunities for true love (if they bring them in at all).

Armand

I knew that Armand never loved Louis (edit: I want to correct myself, I think he did love Louis, but his feelings did change after Paris and that it wasn’t truly love that kept him with Louis), but lord did he still shock me with his callousness and anger. I hope this will also help Armand heal and perhaps do some genuine self reflection and not the “apologies” he was giving during season 3.

Daniel’s Sunburn

Did anyone else think of that episode of What We Do in the Shadows when Lazlo experimented with sunscreen so he could walk in the sun and got brutally burnt when they saw Daniel with that tan from day walking with Armand?

Predictions for the Finale

What do you all think is going to happen in the finale?

I think instead of kidnapping Lestat at the concert, Akasha is going to save Lestat (maybe Louis too) from Armand and his new “coven.” Also, if Daniel’s life is meant to be so short then I’m convinced she’s going to kill Daniel too, probably after she rips Armand’s eye out to incapacitate him. If she leaves Louis behind then stopping Akasha may be the only thing that allows Armand and Louis to cooperate after the shit he’s about to pull.

The only other guess I have is Gabriella saves them and they somehow have the concert, but I doubt it.

Akasha and Armand

I just need to get my thoughts out. For some reason I forgot that episode 5 was out and I just watched it and lord! This is the first time Armand truly terrified me. Which is crazy after watching Don’t Be Afraid, Just Start the Tape.

For me, Armand and Akasha are the scariest vampires. They are so unhinged, calculating and cold.

Obviously I know that it’s Lestat and Akasha till the end. But I can only imagine what they would be like together if Armand aligned himself with Akasha. Although we haven’t gotten to Queen of the Damned yet so who knows, but I think Armand would never side with Akasha and I don’t think that was ever Rolin’s intention.

I’m just so curious to see where this goes, but Sheila Atim was born to be the Queen of the Damned. I’m so excited for them to cast the twins too. I’m wondering if they will appear in the next season. I can see everyone begin to have the dreams of the twins as Akasha begins to rise back up. I really hope they cast a Palestinian actress or actresses. I have faith that they will.

Does Lestat Still Love Nicky?

I always had the impression that Lestat always loved Nicky, but their love wasn’t meant to last on account of Nicky’s mental illness and Lestat becoming a vampire. Louis, of course, is his true love and endgame, but his love for Nicky is still part of him.

In the series I’m wondering if it’s the same. Does Lestat still love Nicky (even if Louis is his truest love) or does he only feel guilty about how he fucked up Nicky’s life? When I saw Nicky yelling at him in the present about being “third” in the list of people Lestat loved and Lestat being dodgy and dismissive about his feelings for Nicky, it got me wondering if it’s only guilt he carries and not guilt AND love. I know it’s probably both, but I’m lowkey aching to hear more about Nicky since Nicky was such an important person in Lestat’s life. I also personally feel that even though Gabriella knows Lestat best, I don’t think she’s always right since she is also very cold.

Daniel’s Vampire Lifespan

Are they going to kill off Daniel? When I heard Lestat mention his “short lifespan” I was like, huh??? Daniel survived Queen of the Damned, are they implying Akasha is going to kill him?

I’ve been hoping they would eventually adapt The Vampire Armand. I think it would make so much sense that he would interview Armand and learn about his mortal life since he has so much drive to learn everyone’s story.

I hope they don’t kill him. I love Daniel and he is just as much the heart of the series as the others.

Edit: I wanted to include here. I wonder that if Daniel is destined to die soon, if they will introduce Sybelle and Benji as Armand’s new companions (however they choose to adapt it) since I can’t see Armand leaning on Louis or Lestat for support (for obvious reasons).

Mike Dean should have done Euphoria’s score for season 3

Mike Dean did the score for The Idol. I hate The Idol, but I loved his score. It was haunting and beautiful. I’m wondering why he couldn’t be brought on after Labrinth left. I guess it comes down to timing, but he does make good music.

I still prefer Labrinth, but he could have been a good alternative instead of Han Zimmer.
